Feature integration and task switching: diminished switch costs after controlling for stimulus, response, and cue repetitions [PDF]
This report presents data from two versions of the task switching procedure in which the separate influence of stimulus repetitions, response key repetitions, conceptual response repetitions, cue repetitions, task repetitions, and congruency are ...

Can Contrast-Response Functions Indicate Visual Processing Levels?
Many visual effects are believed to be processed at several functional and anatomical levels of cortical processing. Determining if and how the levels contribute differentially to these effects is a leading problem in visual perception and visual ...

ViewFeature: Integrated Feature Analysis and Visualization [PDF]
Visualization interfaces for high performance computing systems pose special problems due to the complexity and volume of data these systems manipulate. In the post-genomic era, scientists must be able to quickly gain insight into structure-function problems, and require flexible computing environments to quickly create interfaces that link the ...

Forecasting day-ahead electricity prices in Europe: the importance of considering market integration
Motivated by the increasing integration among electricity markets, in this paper we propose two different methods to incorporate market integration in electricity price forecasting and to improve the predictive performance.

Attention and feature integration in the feature inheritance effect
Features of neighboring elements are not processed independently. Often, it is assumed that nearby features are integrated by a (pre-attentive) pooling mechanism. Here, we show that in the feature inheritance effect some features are integrated across space whereas others are not. This result may be partly explained by a very focused spatial attention.

On Response Bias in the Face Congruency Effect for Internal and External Features
Some years ago Cheung et al. (2008) proposed the complete design (CD) for measuring the failure of selective attention in composite objects. Since the CD is a fully balanced design, analysis of response bias may reveal potential effects of the ...

An Episodic Model of Task Switching Effects: Erasing the Homunculus from Memory
The Parallel Episodic Processing (PEP) model is a neural network for simulating human performancein speeded response time tasks. It learns with an exemplar-based memory store and it is capable of modelling findings from various subdomains of cognition ...

Communication and Language Profiles of Children Treated for Posterior Fossa Brain Tumors
ABSTRACT Background Cognitive and language deficits are frequently reported sequelae of posterior fossa brain tumors (PFBT). Typically, delayed onset impedes prompt assessment and early intervention. This has devastating implications for quality of life.
