Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Strong Internal Electric Field‐Driven S‐scheme CoAl‐LDH/ZrO2 Heterojunction for Enhanced Photocatalytic CO2 Reduction: Configuration, Performance, and Mechanism

open access: yesAdvanced Science
The construction of S‐scheme heterojunctions with a strong internal electric field (IEF) is critical for enhancing photocatalytic performance. Herein, an S‐scheme heterojunction composed of CoAl‐LDH and ZrO2 (denoted as LZ‐60) is synthesized via a ...

Genome Wide Identification of Sesame Dof Transcription Factors and Functional Analysis of SiDof8, SiDof10 and SiDof34 in Fatty Acid Synthesis

open access: yesCurrent Issues in Molecular Biology
The Dof (DNA binding with one finger) protein is one of the unique transcription factors in plants, and it plays an important role in plant growth and stress response. Sesame is an oil-bearing crop with high oil content and rich nutrition. In this study,

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Linking Stochastic Resonance With Long Short‐Term Memory Neural Network for Streamflow Simulation Enhancement

open access: yesWater Resources Research
The accuracy of peak streamflow simulation is often lower than that of normal streamflow simulation, posing a significant challenge. This study introduces stochastic resonance (SR) to enhance simulation accuracy, utilizing its ability to leverage noise ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Wide-Range, Low-Hysteresis Soft Sensor with Architecture-Inspired Design Enabled by Femtosecond Laser-Induced Self-Growth

open access: yesSensors
Resolving the dichotomy between wide detection ranges and low mechanical hysteresis remains a critical challenge in flexible electronics, largely governed by the intrinsic viscoelastic creep of polymeric dielectrics.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...
