Advances in stool banking [PDF]

open access: yesMicrobiota in Health and Disease, 2020
Transplantation of fecal microbiota (FMT) is now standard of care in treatment of recurrent Clostridioides difficile infections (rCDI). Research addresses whether FMT is also effective for other disorders associated with dysbiosis of the gut.

The Negative Effects of Feces-Associated Microorganisms on the Fitness of the Stored Product Mite Tyrophagus putrescentiae

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2022
Feces have been suggested as a major source of microorganisms for recolonization of the gut of stored product mites via coprophagy. The mites can host microorganisms that decrease their fitness, but their transmission is not known. To address the role of

Comparison of metabolites in rumen fluid, urine, and feces of dairy cow from subacute ruminal acidosis model measured by proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy [PDF]

open access: yesAnimal Bioscience, 2023
Objective In this study, metabolites that changed in the rumen fluid, urine and feces of dairy cows fed different feed ratios were investigated. Methods Eight Holstein cows were used in this study.

Conversion of unresponsiveness to immune checkpoint inhibition by fecal microbiota transplantation in patients with metastatic melanoma: study protocol for a randomized phase Ib/IIa trial

open access: yesBMC Cancer, 2022
Background The gut microbiome plays an important role in immune modulation. Specifically, presence or absence of certain gut bacterial taxa has been associated with better antitumor immune responses.

Heat Stress Affects Faecal Microbial and Metabolic Alterations of Rabbits

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2022
Heat stress can impair the rabbit immune system, induce oxidative stress, and cause many complications. These diseases are characterized by metabolic disorders, but the underlying mechanism is unknown.

Ghost tablet in feces [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of General and Family Medicine, 2017
Recently, we encountered a female patient who identified the presence of a ghost tablet in her fecal matter. Interestingly, although the patient was prescribed potassium chloride capsules, elemental composition analysis by energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy was unable to detect the presence of either potassium or chloride in the fecal tablet remnant.

Progressive microbial adaptation of the bovine rumen and hindgut in response to a step-wise increase in dietary starch and the influence of phytogenic supplementation

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2022
Microbial composition and activity in the gastrointestinal tract (GIT) of cattle has important implications for animal health and welfare, driving the focus of research toward ways to modify their function and abundance.
