Advanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.Primary phases and a fatigue crack are studied in a forged blank of an aluminum alloy using synchrotron and laboratory X‐ray computed tomography. To image the crack, the fatigue test is interrupted, and a static tensile load is applied to open the crack.

Assessing the Microstructure of SnBiZn Alloys during Semisolid Treatment
Advanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.The development of Sn‐based alloys for semisolid processing is crucial for Industry 4.0. This study investigates Sn40Bi and Sn40Bi2Zn alloys, revealing that Zn refines Sn‐rich globules by pinning dendrite boundaries. Bi saturation occurs at 60 min, while Zn enhances globule microhardness at 90 min through solid solution strengthening.
