Tsunami Casualty Risk Assessment Integrating Evacuation Tower Placement, Seismic Road Network Performance Enhancement, and Disaster Education

open access: yesEarthquake Engineering &Structural Dynamics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Since the 2011 Great East Japan earthquake, tsunami evacuation towers have been constructed in coastal regions based on worst‐case predictions to provide additional safety margins against unprecedented tsunamis. However, the extent to which such assumptions effectively reduce casualty risk remains unclear.

Synchronous Operation Stability of Three‐Stage Hydropower Stations Based on Feedback Regulation of Regulating Reservoir Water Levels

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
Layout of the synchronous operation of THSRRs. ABSTRACT This paper focuses on the stability of synchronous operation (SSO) of three‐stage hydropower stations cascaded by regulating reservoirs (THSRRs). Firstly, the model of synchronous operation of THSRRs is established. According to the model, the Hopf bifurcation theory is utilized to analyze the SSO
