Operational perspectives for biodiversity indicators
To understand, measure and mitigate biodiversity change, science and policy need to differentiate between diagnostic indicators that capture as many different biodiversity facets as needed, outcome‐oriented steering indicators to guide policy making and management indicators that measure the success of conservation and restoration efforts.
