Parabolic Sliding Mode Filtering with Feed-Forward Compensation

2018 15th International Conference on Control, Automation, Robotics and Vision (ICARCV), 2018
In motion control systems, feedback signals are often corrupted by noise because of environmental disturbances and measurement errors. Thus, filters are necessary to remove noise to obtain reliable signals. This paper proposes a new sliding mode filter that possesses a parabolic-shaped sliding surface. The proposed filter is an extension of a Jin et al.

Scheme for feed-forward polarization mode dispersion compensation

Applied Optics, 2004
We propose a feed-forward polarization mode dispersion (PMD) compensator with three segments that is capable of compensating for the first- and second-order PMD in a transmission fiber. All control parameters are analytically obtained by the PMD concatenated rules.

Feed-Forward Slope Compensated PFC for Chaos Control

Journal of Circuits, Systems and Computers, 2015
Based on the dual-loop control peak current mode power factor correction (PFC) converter, a feed-forward slope compensation method is proposed, which could regulate the compensated slope real-time and suppress the loop perturbation, thus controlling chaos of the system for better stability.

FIR Filter for Feed-Forward Compensation of MEMS Actuator

2021 Communication and Information Technologies (KIT), 2021
The paper describes a compensation filter design for the electrostatic MEMS actuator, which is used to move a mirror for beam spot stabilization in a Free-Space Optical receiver. The actuator represents a dynamical system of the second-order with a highly oscillating response. The purpose of the filter is to prevent excitation of MEMS oscillations. The

Improving the feed-forward compensator in predictive control for setpoint tracking

ISA Transactions, 2014
Simple predictive control (MPC) algorithms produce a feed-forward compensator that may be a suboptimal choice. This paper gives some insights into this issue and simple means of modifying the feed-forward to produce a more systematic and optimal design.

Feed-forward friction and inertia compensation for improving backdrivability of motors

2012 12th International Conference on Control Automation Robotics & Vision (ICARCV), 2012
Backdrivability is an important property in applications like haptics, where force or torque is exerted by the user onto the motor. Gears cause higher friction, which results in a reduction of the backdrivability. This paper investigates how the backdriving torque can be reduced without the additional use of expensive force-torque sensors. The friction

Feed-forward compensation of surface potential in atomic force microscopy

Review of Scientific Instruments, 2008
We introduce a feed-forward technique for lift-mode Kelvin probe force microscopy to minimize electrostatically induced errors in topography scans. Such errors typically occur when a grounded tip is scanned over a heterogeneous sample with differences in local work function or areas of local surface charging. To minimize electrostatic forces during the

Research of DOP and SOP for feed-forward PMD compensation

SPIE Proceedings, 2007
PMD vectors can be described by Stokes vectors pointing to the direction of slow PSP with a length equal to DGD. Measuring DOP is a way of obtaining DGD information and the direction of PSP can be characterized by scrambling at the transmitter. When totally polarized optical signals (DOP=1) transmit a distance, DOP decreases due to the influence of ...

A complementary bipolar operational amplifier with feed-forward compensation

Proceedings of the Bipolar Circuits and Technology Meeting, 2003
An operational amplifier that employs a feed-forward architecture to achieve a 50-MHz unity-gain bandwidth and 130-dB open-loop gain is described. The amplifier response is dominated at low frequencies by a precision two-stage amplifier, whereas at high frequencies a single folded-cascode stage takes over and reduces the overall phase shift.

Gantry Crane Position Control via Parallel Feed-forward Compensator

2020 28th Mediterranean Conference on Control and Automation (MED), 2020
This article is concerned with an output feedback position control of gantry (overhead) cranes applying a parallel feed-forward compensator (PFC) that allows for a reduction of payload swinging without additional sensors or payload swing angle estimations.
