Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR) and Performance Group Estimation Based on Predicted Feed Intake for the Optimisation of Beef Production [PDF]

open access: yesSensors, 2023
This paper reports on the use of estimates of individual animal feed intake (made using time spent feeding measurements) to predict the Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR), a measure of the amount of feed consumed to produce 1 kg of body mass, for an individual ...

Polymorphisms in SHISA3 and RFC3 genes and their association with feed conversion ratio in Hu sheep [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Veterinary Science, 2023
In animal husbandry, feed efficiency is a crucial economic trait. In this study, the general linear model was used to perform association analysis for various genotypes and feed conversion ratio (FCR)-related traits.

Effect of Early Feed Restriction on Growth, Feed Conversion, and Mortality in Broiler Chickens

open access: yesPoultry Science, 1992
Two floor pen and two battery experiments were conducted to determine the effects of early feed restriction on the performance of commercial broilers. Feed restriction was induced in all experiments by providing chicks with 40 kcal of ME per bird per day, commencing at 4 days of age.

Growth, Feed Intake, and Feed Conversion of Dwarf and Nondwarf Broiler-Type Chickens

open access: yesPoultry Science, 1980
Feed intake and feed conversion patterns of meat-type dwarf (dw) and normal contemporaries were investigated in two trials, with the Athens-Canadian randombred line used as the base population. Dwarf chickens consumed significantly less feed than normal ones the first day posthatching and in all subsequent observation periods.

Genome-wide association study for residual concentrate intake using different approaches in Italian Brown Swiss

open access: yesItalian Journal of Animal Science, 2021
Residual feed intake (RFI) is the most used measure of feed efficiency. However, considering the importance of concentrates in the ration, a new index, the residual concentrate intake (RCI), was here defined. RCI aims to measure the individual efficiency
