Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR) and Performance Group Estimation Based on Predicted Feed Intake for the Optimisation of Beef Production [PDF]

open access: yesSensors, 2023
This paper reports on the use of estimates of individual animal feed intake (made using time spent feeding measurements) to predict the Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR), a measure of the amount of feed consumed to produce 1 kg of body mass, for an individual ...

Polymorphisms in SHISA3 and RFC3 genes and their association with feed conversion ratio in Hu sheep [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Veterinary Science, 2023
In animal husbandry, feed efficiency is a crucial economic trait. In this study, the general linear model was used to perform association analysis for various genotypes and feed conversion ratio (FCR)-related traits.

Identification of Rumen Microbial Genes Involved in Pathways Linked to Appetite, Growth, and Feed Conversion Efficiency in Cattle

open access: yesFrontiers in Genetics, 2019
The rumen microbiome is essential for the biological processes involved in the conversion of feed into nutrients that can be utilized by the host animal. In the present research, the influence of the rumen microbiome on feed conversion efficiency, growth

Feed Components and Timing to Improve the Feed Conversion Ratio for Sustainable Aquaculture Using Starch. [PDF]

open access: yesInt J Mol Sci
Aquaculture contributes to the sustainable development of food security, marine resource conservation, and economy. Shifting aquaculture feed from fish meal and oil to terrestrial plant derivatives may result in cost savings. However, many carnivorous fish cannot be sustained on plant-derived materials, necessitating the need for the identification of ...

Effect of Early Feed Restriction on Growth, Feed Conversion, and Mortality in Broiler Chickens

open access: yesPoultry Science, 1992
Two floor pen and two battery experiments were conducted to determine the effects of early feed restriction on the performance of commercial broilers. Feed restriction was induced in all experiments by providing chicks with 40 kcal of ME per bird per day, commencing at 4 days of age.

Management factors affecting mortality, feed intake and feed conversion ratio of grow-finishing pigs

open access: yesAnimal, 2014
The aim of this study was to determine the effect of animal management and farm facilities on total feed intake (TFI), feed conversion ratio (FCR) and mortality rate (MORT) of grower-finishing pigs. In total, 310 batches from 244 grower-finishing farms, consisting of 454 855 Pietrain sired pigs in six Spanish pig companies were used.

Growth, Feed Intake, and Feed Conversion of Dwarf and Nondwarf Broiler-Type Chickens

open access: yesPoultry Science, 1980
Feed intake and feed conversion patterns of meat-type dwarf (dw) and normal contemporaries were investigated in two trials, with the Athens-Canadian randombred line used as the base population. Dwarf chickens consumed significantly less feed than normal ones the first day posthatching and in all subsequent observation periods.
