MicroRNA governs bistable cell differentiation and lineage segregation via a noncanonical feedback

open access: yesMolecular Systems Biology, 2021
Positive feedback driven by transcriptional regulation has long been considered a key mechanism underlying cell lineage segregation during embryogenesis.

Feedback Mechanisms of Thymic Lymphocyte Production.

open access: yesExperimental Biology and Medicine, 1967
SummaryThymidine-H3 uptake of thymocytes from rats injected with antilymphocyte serum was increased when the blood lymphocyte count was low whereas it was decreased when the count returned to normal. Thymocytes from rats injected with antithymus serum showed increased RNA metabolism despite lowered thymidine-H3 uptake and sustained lymphopenia.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Explaining the most energetic supernovae with an inefficient jet-feedback mechanism

open access: yes, 2016
We suggest that the energetic radiation from core-collapse super-energetic supernovae (SESNe) is due to a long lasting accretion process onto the newly born neutron star (NS), resulting from an inefficient operation of the jet-feedback mechanism.

USV Path Planning in a Hybrid Map Using a Genetic Algorithm with a Feedback Mechanism

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
Unmanned surface vehicles (USVs) often operate in real-world environments with long voyage distances and complex routes. The use of a single-grid map model presents challenges, such as the high computational costs for high-resolution maps and loss of ...

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Cooling of a mirror by radiation pressure [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
We describe an experiment in which a mirror is cooled by the radiation pressure of light. A high-finesse optical cavity with a mirror coated on a mechanical resonator is used as an optomechanical sensor of the Brownian motion of the mirror.

Feedback mechanism of front abutment stress on filling rate of backfilling body in coal burst mine

open access: yesMeitan xuebao
High stress is the main reason for high frequency of rock burst in deep coal mines. Backfilling mining serves as an effective method to control roof strata movement, alleviate the degree of stress concentration, and reduce the failure of surrounding rock

Macrophage migration inhibitory factor promotes resistance to MEK blockade in KRAS mutant colorectal cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, 2018
Although MEK blockade has been highlighted as a promising antitumor drug, it has poor clinical efficacy in KRAS mutant colorectal cancer (CRC). Several feedback systems have been described in which inhibition of one intracellular pathway leads to ...
