Examining Transnational Education in British Universities for Enhancing Internationalisation: The Impact of Constructivism on Alignment

open access: yesFuture in Educational Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Transnational education (TNE) and the accelerating internationalisation of higher education demand pedagogical approaches that support deep learning across diverse contexts. Constructive alignment (CA) is widely adopted to align learning outcomes, teaching and assessment; however, its underlying constructivist rationale has weakened, creating ...

Using Deep Learning Conditional Value‐at‐Risk Based Utility Function in Cryptocurrency Portfolio Optimisation

open access: yesInternational Journal of Finance &Economics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT One of the critical risks associated with cryptocurrency assets is the so‐called downside risk, or tail risk. Conditional Value‐at‐Risk (CVaR) is a measure of tail risks that is not normally considered in the construction of a cryptocurrency portfolio.

Digital Sliding Mode Servo Systems with Preview Feedforward Compensation

open access: yesIEEJ Transactions on Electronics, Information and Systems, 2003
AbstractA new design method of digital preview sliding mode servo system is proposed. In this method, sliding mode regulator theory is applied to an augmented error system. The equivalent control which makes the states of the error system stay on the switching surface is employed. Then, the sliding mode controller is designed.

Ultrafast in‐memory computing and highly efficient deep neural networks driven by phase‐change memory materials with partially amorphous state transitions

open access: yesInfoScience, EarlyView.
This work addresses challenges including the nonlinear weight‐conductance update and the trade‐off between increasing melting uniformity and reducing solid‐to‐liquid transition time. It utilizes all four melting states to create an integrated framework for attaining in‐memory computing and deep neural network applications. The framework achieves a near‐

ADAPTIVE CONTROL WITH FEEDFORWARD COMPENSATION AND REDUCED REFERENCE MODEL

open access: yesIFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1983
Abstract Two modifications to the standard adaptive model-following control (AMFC) algorithm given in Landau (1979) are described. The first refers to the extension of the algorithm to consider measurable disturbance inputs in a feedforward adaptive fashion.

General‐Purpose Hexagonal Programmable Photonic Integrated Circuit with a >30 GHz Free Spectral Range

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
A compact and low insertion loss programmable photonic circuit is demonstrated based on a 7‐cell hexagonal waveguide mesh with a large free spectral range (FSR) of 31 GHz for a 6‐gate ring resonator configuration. Vernier rings and a dual‐injected ring configuration are demonstrated on this circuit with a further improved FSR of 93 GHz.
