Adjusting Our Thinking About Feeding Animals: Fiber as the Metric for Mimicking Natural Diets
A typical effect of the change of an animal group to a diet higher in fiber: juveniles keep growing, animals of ideal body weight maintain their weight, and obese individuals lose weight. ABSTRACT Free‐ranging animals often ingest markedly different diets than their counterparts under human care, whether companion animals, production animals, or zoo ...

[Felines: an alternative in genetic toxicology studies?]
The micronuclei (MN) test carry out in peripheral blood is fast, simple, economic and it is used to detect genotoxic environmental agents. MN are fragments of chromosomes or complete chromosomes remaining in the cytoplasm after cell division, which ...

ABSTRACT The success of nuclear reprogramming techniques, including the G0/G1 synchronization of somatic cells, depends on species‐specific optimization. While roscovitine and serum starvation have been successfully applied in domestic and wild terrestrial mammals, their use in aquatic mammals remains poorly investigated.

Naturally Occurring ZCCHC3 Variants Modulate Antiretroviral Activity in Cynomolgus Macaques
ABSTRACT Many mammalian cells restrict viral replication by utilizing various host restriction factors. We recently demonstrated that CCHC‐type zinc‐finger‐containing protein 3 (ZCCHC3) suppresses human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV‐1) replication through multiple mechanisms.

18 days of predator odor exposure altered gut microbiota, increased anxiety‐like behaviors, and elevated hypothalamic–pituitary–adrenal axis activity in Brandt's voles, with males showing behavioral habituation and females remaining sensitive. Cecal microbiota transplantation experiments confirmed that only female recipients of microbiota from predator‐
