Endoscopic features differentiating non‐Helicobacter pylori Helicobacter‐induced gastric mucosa‐associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma with a nodular gastritis‐like appearance and H. pylori‐induced conventional nodular gastritis

open access: yesDigestive Endoscopy, EarlyView.
Objectives Conventional nodular gastritis has been known to be caused by Helicobacter pylori infection. Several cases of gastric mucosa‐associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma with non‐H. pylori Helicobacters (NHPH) exhibit endoscopic findings resembling nodular gastritis.

Past research and future directions in understanding how birds use their sense of smell

open access: yesIbis, EarlyView.
Our understanding of the functional importance of olfaction to birds has improved over the past 60 years, largely as the result of experimental studies testing how birds use their sense of smell in different contexts. As it is impossible to measure directly which odours birds can detect, we rely on measuring behavioural responses to scent cues or ...

Population genomic analysis of Mahoenui giant wētā (Deinacrida mahoenui) reveals minimal reduction in genomic diversity following translocation

open access: yesInsect Conservation and Diversity, EarlyView.
The Mahoenui giant wētā is an Aotearoa New Zealand endemic insect of conservation concern, having been extirpated from the majority of its natural range before rediscovery in the 1960s. We assess the genetic impacts of a translocation from the remaining population in the Mahoenui Giant Wētā Scientific Reserve to establish a new population on Mahurangi ...

Development of a Real‐Time PCR Assay for Noninvasive Detection of Miamiensis avidus in Olive Flounder Aquaculture

open access: yesJournal of Fish Diseases, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Miamiensis avidus (syn. Philasterides dicentrarchi) leads to high mortality and economic losses in olive flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus) aquaculture. In this study, we developed a real‐time PCR assay targeting the cytochrome c oxidase subunit I (cox1) gene of M. avidus to sensitively detect and quantify the parasite in seawater.

Follow-up of a Rickettsia felis encephalitis: Some new insights into clinical and imaging features

open access: yesInternational Journal of Infectious Diseases, 2021
Rickettsia felis (R. felis) infection is a cause of unspecified encephalitis. However, the incidence has been underestimated due to the intracellular features of the pathogen and insufficient understanding of its clinical picture.

A Comparative Analysis of Creatine, Creatinine, Amino Acid Concentrations and Indispensable Amino Acid Scores of Grain‐Free and Grain‐Inclusive Commercial Extruded Adult Cat Foods

open access: yesJournal of Animal Physiology and Animal Nutrition, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Despite its role in energy and amino acid (AA) metabolism, no work has investigated creatine (Cr) content in commercial cat food. This study evaluated the Cr, creatinine (CrN), crude protein (CP) and AA concentrations of 30 commercial extruded cat diets.

Exploring the effects of anthropogenic habitat change on Euplerid carnivore occupancy in a humid evergreen forest, south‐east Madagascar

open access: yesJournal of Zoology, EarlyView.
We collected camera trap data of small carnivores in Tsitongambarika Nouvelle Aire Protégée, south‐east Madagascar, and detected four endemic Euplerid species, that is, Cryptoprocta ferox, Fossa fossana, Galidia elegans, and Galidictis fasciata, and three non‐native species, that is, Viverricula indica, Canis familiaris, and Felis sp.
