Rickettsia felis in Xenopsylla cheopis, Java, Indonesia
Rickettsia typhi and R. felis, etiologic agents of murine typhus and fleaborne spotted fever, respectively, were detected in Oriental rat fleas (Xenopsylla cheopis) collected from rodents and shrews in Java, Indonesia. We describe the first evidence of R.

Nesting ecology of an ice‐associated seabird, Kittlitz's murrelet, at the northern edge of its range
We studied the Kittlitz's murrelet, an ice‐associated seabird of conservation concern, at the northern edge of its range. Over a 2‐year period, we estimated nest density and success at 2 sites, captured and telemetered nesting murrelets, and tested the use of a thermal camera to improve nest detection.

What Makes a Mother? Investigating Maternal Success in Ex Situ Cheetahs
Feeding and diet may play a part in maternal success. Cheetahs who are reported to feed on ruminant meat have larger litters of cubs than female cheetahs who are not, while female cheetahs who are reported to experience starve days have a higher incidence of stillbirths.

Network dynamics revealed from eDNA highlight seasonal variation in urban mammal communities
Our novel study applied eDNA to track seasonal shifts in urban mammal communities, revealing changes in diversity and species interaction networks across 21 urban parks in Detroit. We highlight the influence of park size and human activity on biodiversity, demonstrating the utility of eDNA for urban conservation and wildlife management.

Horizontal transmission of Rickettsia felis between cat fleas, Ctenocephalides felis
Rickettsia felis is a rickettsial pathogen primarily associated with the cat flea, Ctenocephalides felis. Although laboratory studies have confirmed that R. felis is maintained by transstadial and transovarial transmission in C. felis, distinct mechanisms of horizontal transmission of R. felis among cat fleas are undefined.
