Folliculogenesis in the domestic cat (Felis catus)
Theriogenology, 2006The dynamic regulation of mammalian folliculogenesis is a key component of the reproductive process. Traditionally, the rodent had been used as a model to study ovarian function and reproductive physiology due to the availability of animals, their relatively short cycle length, high rate of fecundity and short generation interval. We maintain that much

Retrovirus receptor PiT-1 of the Felis catus
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Gene Structure and Expression, 1998We isolated a cDNA encoding a feline homolog of human PiT-1, a sodium-dependent phosphate symporter which is utilized by gibbon ape leukemia virus (GALV) as a receptor for entry into host cells. The overall homology between the human and feline receptors is 92 and 93% at the nucleotide and deduced amino acid levels, respectively.

Genetic Polymorphism of Cat (Felis catus) Plasma Orosomucoid
Biochemical Genetics, 1997Genetic polymorphism of orosomucoid (ORM) was observed in 22 breeds of cats (Felis catus) using isoelectric focusing (pH 4.0-6.5) of desialylated plasmas followed by immunoblotting with rabbit antiserum to human ORM. From a total of 943 plasma samples examined, 15 phenotypes were identified and family studies demonstrated an inheritance of five ...

Artificial insemination in domestic cats (Felis catus)
Theriogenology, 2006Artificial insemination (AI) in cats represents an important technique for increasing the contribution of genetically valuable individuals in specific populations, whether they be highly pedigreed purebred cats, medically important laboratory cats or endangered non-domestic cats.
