Embeddings in the Fell and Wijsman topologies

open access: yesFilomat, 2019
It is shown that if a T2 topological space X contains a closed uncountable discrete subspace, then the spaces (?1 + 1)? and (?1 + 1)?1 embed into (CL(X),?F), the hyperspace of nonempty closed subsets of X equipped with the Fell topology. If (X, d) is a non-separable perfect topological space, then (?1 + 1)? and (?1 +1)?1 embed into (CL(X), ?

Solvent‐Free Thermal Defect Engineering in Molecular Frameworks With Volatile Linkers

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Thermal removal of neutral volatile linkers enables precise and solvent‐free generation of metal vacancies in MOFs. This strategy affords redox‐stable, coordinatively unsaturated FeII sites with tunable spin, ligand coordination, and catalytic behavior. The approach offers a general route to design defect‐functional materials through local coordination

Weak limits for exploratory plots in the analysis of extremes

open access: yes, 2013
Exploratory data analysis is often used to test the goodness-of-fit of sample observations to specific target distributions. A few such graphical tools have been extensively used to detect subexponential or heavy-tailed behavior in observed data. In this

Structural Exploration of Zirconium Metal–Organic Frameworks Through Linker Desymmetrization and Modulator Compensation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A linker‐desymmetrization‐modulator‐compensation (LDMC) strategy for constructing structurally diverse Zr‐MOFs is reported. This approach reduces linker symmetry to create defects in Zr‐clusters, which can be compensated for by modulator coordination. Using this approach, we synthesized PCN‐1005 and PCN‐1006, featuring unprecedented Zr‐clusters. In PCN‐

Spectral Tuning of Hyperbolic Shear Polaritons in Monoclinic Gallium Oxide via Isotopic Substitution

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Spectral tuning of highly directional hyperbolic shear polaritons is realized via isotopic substitution of 16O to 18O in monoclinic β$\beta$‐phase gallium oxide. A red‐shift of almost 40 cm−1 is experimentally demonstrated with near‐field imaging, corroborated by the permittivity change extracted from far‐field experiments and density functional theory.

The representation theory of C*-algebras associated to groupoids

open access: yes, 2012
Let E be a second-countable, locally compact, Hausdorff groupoid equipped with an action of T such that G:=E/T is a principal groupoid with Haar system \lambda. The twisted groupoid C*-algebra C*(E;G,\lambda) is a quotient of the C*-algebra of E obtained

Decoupling Dynamics and Crosslink Stability in Supramolecular Hydrogels Using Associative Exchange

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
How does reorganization impact the stability of supramolecular hydrogels? In contrast to dissociative crosslink exchange, implementing associative exchange in macroscale DNA hydrogels enables decoupling of reorganization dynamics from thermal and mechanical stability.

Spectral Continuity for Aperiodic Quantum Systems I. General Theory

open access: yes, 2018
How does the spectrum of a Schr\"odinger operator vary if the corresponding geometry and dynamics change? Is it possible to define approximations of the spectrum of such operators by defining approximations of the underlying structures?

Topology and Material Optimization in Ultra‐Soft Magneto‐Active Structures: Making Advantage of Residual Anisotropies

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Residual magnetization induces pronounced mechanical anisotropy in ultra‐soft magnetorheological elastomers, shaping deformation and actuation even without external magnetic fields. This study introduces a computational‐experimental framework integrating magneto‐mechanical coupling into topology optimization for designing soft magnetic actuators with ...

3D Printing of Stretchable, Compressible and Conductive Porous Polyurethane for Soft Robotics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A 3D‐printable porous dopamine‐polyurethane acrylate elastomer results in conductive, stretchable, and compressible structures that can be metallized in situ through catechol‐mediated silver reduction. The resulting material function as both compliant soft robot with a and strain sensors without complex assemblies, enabling fully 3D‐printed soft ...
