When Cubic is Not Isotropic: Phonon–Exciton Decoupling in CuInSnS4 Single Crystals

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
A cubic CuInSnS4 crystal does not fully play by cubic rules. While phonons follow the average iso‐tropic lattice symmetry, the disorder‐localized excitons break away, showing strong, and reproduci‐ble polarization‐dependent emission. This work shows how intrinsic cation disorder can turn a mac‐roscopically cubic material into a source of hidden ...

On the “Third Definition” of the Topology on the Spectrum of a C*-Algebra

open access: yes, 1971
0. In [3], Fell introduced a topology on Rep (A,H), the collection of all non-null but possibly degenerate *-representations of the C*-algebra A on the Hilbert space H.

Selectors for sequences of subsets of hyperspaces [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
For a Hausdorff space X we denote by 2X the family of all closed subsets of X. In this paper we continue to research relationships between closure-type properties of hyperspaces over a space X and covering properties of X.

A Proof‐of‐Concept Assessment of a Novel Wearable Eyelid Muscle Device: A Pre‐Clinical Animal Cadaver Study for Eyelid Closure Restoration

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This article introduces a soft wearable eyelid sling device incorporating a hydraulic soft artificial muscle (SAM) for achieving complete closure of an eyelid. The SAM is driven by a cam mechanism that provides a displacement profile closely matched with those of a healthy eyelid.

Collision‐Resilient Winged Drones Enabled by Tensegrity Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Based on structures of birds such as the woodpeck, this article presents the collision‐resilient aerial robot, SWIFT. SWIFT leverages tensegrity structures in the fuselage and wings which allow it to undergo large deformations in a crash, without sustaining damage. Experiments show that SWIFT can reduce impact forces by 70% over conventional structures.

TacScope: A Miniaturized Vision‐Based Tactile Sensor for Surgical Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
TacScope is a compact, vision‐based tactile sensor designed for robot‐assisted surgery. By leveraging a curved elastomer surface with pressure‐sensitive particle redistribution, it captures high‐resolution 3D tactile feedback. TacScope enables accurate tumor detection and shape classification beneath soft tissue phantoms, offering a scalable, low‐cost ...

The Fell Topology for Preference Spaces : Preliminary Results

open access: yes, 2010
The topology of closed convergence (Fell topology) has hitherto served as a standard model of neighboring preferences in economics. Grodal (1974) and Hildenbrand (1974) provided thorough analyses of the Fell topology for irreflexive, transitive, and ...

Completeness properties of the generalized compact-open topology on partial functions with closed domains

open access: yes, 2001
The primary goal of the paper is to investigate the Baire property and weak α-favorability for the generalized compact-open topology τC on the space P of continuous partial functions f:A→Y with a closed domain A⊂X.

3D‐Printing Aided Rapid Prototyping of Pretensioned Tensegrity Structures for Robotic Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Printing, injection molding, and assembly (PMA) is a method for rapid prototyping mesoscale, topologically complex, and tensioned tensegrity structures. In combination with PMA method, two mold design strategies: modular mold and compact channel layout, enable efficiency and scalability for tensegrity fabrication.
