Assault Burn Injuries in Children in South Africa: Demographics, Risk Factors and Characteristics
ABSTRACT Globally, 1%–25% of hospitalized child burns are nonaccidental, that is, due to violence or neglect. Such cases, especially violent burns, are noted for longer hospitalizations, more skin grafting and greater mortality. There is limited investigation of this debilitating phenomenon from Africa.
