Multi‐Component Functionalized Bifidobacterium Longum Hydrogel for Multi‐Target Integrated Therapy of Colitis‐Associated Anxiety and Depression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A pH/MMP dual‐responsive Bifidobacterium longum (BL) hydrogel (INPs@BL@Gel) functionalized with baicalin, tyrosine, and inulin is constructed. It enables gastric protection, inflammation‐targeted release, and prolonged intestinal colonization. By remodeling gut microbiota, elevating beneficial neuroactive metabolites (homovanillic acid, short‐chain ...

Mismatch in sexual dimorphism of developing song and song control system in blue-capped cordon-bleus, a songbird species with singing females and males

open access: yesFrontiers in Ecology and Evolution, 2015
Brain song control regions of adult passerine birds are sexually dimorphic in species such as the zebra finch (Taeniopygia guttata) in which males sing whereas females do not. In many tropical bird species, however, females sing as well.

Eye‐Brain Neuroimmune Axis Enables Long‐Term Survival in Glioblastoma by Modulating Brain Immune Surveillance and Neuronal Excitability

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The eye–brain neuroimmune axis triggers immune activation and disrupts pathological neuronal connectivity to extend glioblastoma survival. ABSTRACT As an anatomical extension of the central nervous system (CNS), the eye harbors rich neural and immune interfaces with the brain. However, the integrated immunological and neurological nexus between the eye

Whole‐Genome Sequencing Pilot of the Central Asian Genomic Diversity Project Reveals Distinct Histories, Adaptation, and Introgression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
As a pilot phase of the Central Asian Genomic Diversity Project, whole‐genome sequencing of 166 individuals from 20 Central Asian and Afghan Hazara populations reveals fine‐scale substructure shaped by repeated trans‐Eurasian migration and admixture. Integrated analyses uncover post‐admixture adaptation, archaic introgression, and medically relevant ...

PRMT5‐Dependent Stabilization of VPS34 Orchestrates Copper Trafficking to Shield Cancer Cells from Cuproptosis and Radiotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Radioresistance arises partly from tumor cells evading cuproptosis via unknown defenses. This study reveals that the PRMT5‐VPS34 axis acts as a radiation‐activated anticuproptotic mechanism: PRMT5 methylates VPS34 at Arg174, recruiting USP10 to remove K48‐linked ubiquitination and prevent degradation.

The effects of age on vocal mimicry in female superb lyrebirds

open access: yesJournal of Avian Biology
Avian vocal mimicry has typically been examined through the lens of sexual selection acting on males. However, the females of many bird species are accomplished vocal mimics; a fact that cannot be accounted for by traditional male‐centric explanations ...

Modulation of Lung Adenocarcinoma by Phosphorylated FOXN3‐Mediated Transcriptional Inactivation of p53

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In non‐tumorous lung tissues, FOXN3 promotes the transcriptional activation of p53 by facilitating its recruitment to target promoters, thereby suppressing lung tumorigenesis through activation of the p53 signaling pathway. Conversely, in lung adenocarcinoma tissues, hyperphosphorylated FOXN3 dissociates from the promoters of p53‐responsive genes and ...

8‐Oxoguanine Modified CircMTUS1 Drives PABPC1 Phase Separation to Promote Gastric Cancer Progression and Cisplatin Resistance via Autophagy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Gastric cancer (GC) is a major global health concern, as its prevention and treatment remain significant challenges. The 8‐oxoguanine (o8G) modification of circRNAs, alongside their capacity to orchestrate liquid‐liquid phase separation (LLPS) and autophagy, plays a pivotal role in driving tumor progression and determining therapeutic outcomes.

Why Didn't I Get a Payout? Understanding Farmer Choices, Index Insurance, and Basis Risk

open access: yesApplied Economic Perspectives and Policy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Index insurance, while heralded as a potential solution to alleviate poverty and food insecurity among agricultural households, has its own set of challenges, notably basis risk. Basis risk is the discrepancy between the insurance payout and losses incurred, posing a significant deterrent to the adoption of index insurance.
