Cable dimension determination using Finite Element Method Magnetic (FEMM) for three-core belted and gas insulated cables

open access: yese-Prime: Advances in Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Energy
A numerical approach utilizing the Finite Element Method (FEM) based freeware Finite Element Method Magnetic (FEMM) is employed to optimize the insulation thickness to diameter ratio (‘T/d’) for a three-core belted cable, enclosed by a grounded sheath ...

Interface Controlled Electric Field Swing Adsorption. [PDF]

open access: yesAdv Sci (Weinh)
Swing adsorption of Ar, N2, and CO2 under moderate electric fields and elevated pressures at room temperature is investigated. Multiple charged conductor‐insulator interfaces enable a selective adsorption behavior of the three gases while CO2 shows a 10 fold increase in the effect over Ar and N2.

Investigating the Effect of Material Properties and Geometric Design of Scaled Magneto-rheological Brake through FEMM

open access: yesNanoWorld Journal, 2023
Magneto-rheological (MR) brakes have enormous potential to replace conventional brakes because of their higher degree of controlling capability. With the help of magnetic field, MR brakes can be activated to provide braking.

Eddy current testing probe optimization using a parallel genetic algorithm [PDF]

open access: yesSerbian Journal of Electrical Engineering, 2008
This paper uses the developed parallel version of Michalewicz's Genocop III Genetic Algorithm (GA) searching technique to optimize the coil geometry of an eddy current non-destructive testing probe (ECTP). The electromagnetic field is computed using FEMM

Torque ripple reduction of switched reluctance motor using direct instantaneous torque control and adaptive turn‐on technique for electric vehicle applications

open access: yesIET Electric Power Applications, Volume 17, Issue 12, Page 1502-1514, December 2023., 2023
Direct Instantaneous Torque Control (DITC) with an adaptive turn‐on angle technique is presented in this paper to improve the torque ripple of Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM) for Electric Vehicle applications. An improved DITC switching scheme is presented by adopting two switching modes in the commutation region to reduce the torque ripples.
