Femoral Plating

Orthopedic Clinics of North America, 1994
We have demonstrated that we are able to meet both trauma and orthopedic goals with immediate plate fixation of femoral fractures in patients with blunt polytrauma. Our femoral fracture mortality rate is less than our predicted institutional mortality rate of patients with comparative injury severity scores. Ipsilateral femoral neck and shaft fractures

Femoral Pseudoaneurysms

Vascular and Endovascular Surgery, 2006
Iatrogenic pseudoaneurysms will continue to be a problem associated with arterial cannulation procedures. With the increasing trend toward minimally invasive procedures, vascular surgeons, as well as interventionalists will be performing more cannulation procedures; hence we will be more involved in the management of this complication more frequently ...

Oxygenation in Femoral-to-Femoral Bypass

Archives of Surgery, 1973
Recently, interest has been generated in femoral vein to femoral artery bypass with a membrane oxygenator for prolonged acute reversible pulmonary insufficiency states. The present study compared oxygen tension in the femoral (FAPo 2 ) and brachial (BAPo 2 ) arteries and right ventricle (RV) at various femoral-to-femoral bypass flows.

Femoral Callotasis

Journal of Pediatric Orthopaedics B, 1997
The procedure for femoral callotasis is explained, and a series of 160 lengthenings is reviewed, 60 for limb length discrepancy and 100 for short stature. Callotasis was performed in 106 subjects with a mean age of 19 years. The mean healing index (HI) of 36 days per centimeter is related more to etiology than to age or extent of lengthening.

Femoral Shortening

Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, 1978
Femoral shortening is a well proven method of correcting a leg length discrepancy once growth has ceased. The discrepancy should be significant enough to justify the procedure, and should be ideally confined to the femurs. The musculature of the femur to be shortened should be normal. A segment of femur equal to the discrepancy is excised at either the

Femoral pseudoaneurysms produced by percutaneous femoral procedures

International Journal of Risk and Safety in Medicine, 1995
Femoral pseudo aneurysm is the most frequent complication produced by percutaneous femoral procedures. During a 5-year period seven patients underwent seven operative repairs for this complication. All seven patients presented with an expanding swelling in the groin. The average diameter of the aneurysms (at operation) was 5.2 cm. All seven underwent a

Anatomical variation of the femoral nerve in the femoral triangle

Regional Anesthesia & Pain Medicine, 2019
To the editor, Ultrasound-guided femoral nerve block immediately distal to the inguinal ligament at about the inguinal skin crease is a standard regional anesthesia technique for lower extremity surgery.[1 2][1] Performance of the block requires ultrasound identification of the femoral nerve in ...

Femoral Osteotomies for Avascular Necrosis of the Femoral Head

Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, 2004
Avascular necrosis of the femoral head affects 10,000 to 20,000 people every year and often these patients are in their 30s and 40s. The natural history of this disease is important to understand because the rate of femoral head collapse and treatment options are related to multiple factors including the cause of the disease, its stage at initial ...

Femoral neck fracture: a complication of femoral nailing

Injury, 1995
A fracture of the shaft of the femur in adults is common after road traffic accidents. Until recently it was not known that a fracture of the femoral neck can occur while fixing the femoral shaft fracture with an intramedullary nail. We report three patients in whom femoral neck fractures occurred during femoral nailing.
