A Novel Approach to Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (SOFA) Using Near‐Infrared Spectroscopy in Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) Patients

open access: yesJournal of Biophotonics, EarlyView.
This study utilized near‐infrared spectroscopy to monitor real‐time blood oxygen changes in the lower limb microcirculation of ECMO patients and performed disease severity classification based on this information. The classification models demonstrated strong predictive performance in both VV‐ECMO and VA‐ECMO patients.

Butorphanol or a Combination of Ketamine and Xylazine Do Not Interfere With Arrhythmogenic Parameters in Agoutis (Dasyprocta prymnolopha) Obtained Through High‐Resolution Electrocardiogram

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Zoology Part A: Ecological and Integrative Physiology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction/Objectives: Agoutis is a medium‐sized wild rodent with potential for use as an experimental model. This study aimed to evaluate physiological parameters of arrhythmogenesis in this species, by HR‐ECG and VCG techniques, under physical and pharmacological containment (ketamine‐xylazine and butorphanol). Materials and methods: Eight

Integrated gross and microanatomical analysis of the periportal lymphatic system in human liver

open access: yesJournal of Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic Sciences, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Although animal studies have indicated that the periportal lymphatic system is an important intrahepatic lymphatic route, detailed human studies are scarce. We studied the lymphatic pathways and dynamics around Glisson's capsule in human livers. Methods We performed whole‐mount immunostaining for the liver using podoplanin and CD‐31

Associations of Central Arterial Stiffness With Brain White Matter Integrity and Gray Matter Volume in MRI Across the Adult Lifespan

open access: yesJournal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, EarlyView.
Background Central arterial stiffening is associated with brain white matter (WM) damage and gray matter (GM) volume loss in older adults, but little is known about this association from an adult lifespan perspective. Purpose To investigate the associations of central arterial stiffness with WM microstructural organization, WM lesion load, cortical ...
