Aneurysms of the femoral artery

open access: yesJournal of British Surgery, 1977
Summary Eight aneurysms of the femoral artery out of a total of 27 in 16 patients developed symptoms requiring surgery. The operation of choice was Dacron prosthetic replacement of the aneurysm with preservation of profunda femoris perfusion. The incidence of complications of aneurysms was 30 per cent.

Assessment of longitudinal distribution of subclinical atherosclerosis in femoral arteries by three-dimensional cardiovascular magnetic resonance vessel wall imaging

open access: yesJournal of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance, 2018
Background Lower extremity peripheral artery disease has become a significant health burden worldwide. Since the treatment strategies can be different if atherosclerotic disease involves different femoral artery segments, it is important to assess plaque

A case of deep femoral artery aneurysm found with superficial femoral artery aneurysm

open access: yesJournal of Rural Medicine, 2021
Objective: Deep femoral artery (DFA) aneurysms are extremely rare cases of aneurysms that are difficult to diagnose. The objective of this report was to discuss the timing and method of surgery for this disease. Patient: We encountered an asymptomatic left DFA aneurysm that was discovered along with a symptomatic aneurysm of the right superficial ...

Endovascular treatment of a ruptured true superficial femoral artery aneurysm

open access: yesRadiology Case Reports, 2021
Isolated true aneurysms of the superficial femoral artery are rare and less common than those of the common femoral artery. They occurred commonly in elderly men in about 87% and most of them are located in the middle third of the artery. Due to the deep

A study of anomalous origin of medial circumflex femoral artery and its significance

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Scientific Research, 2019
Background: Femoral artery, a branch of external iliac artery, is the blood supply to the anterior compartment of the thigh. Its branch, medial circumflex femoral artery (MCFA), supplies the head and neck of femur, adductor muscles and the acetabular pad
