Atypical femoral fractures [PDF]
Bisphosphonates (BPs) represent the most widely used therapy for osteoporosis. Recently, a relationship between long-term treatment with BPs and a subset of atypical femoral fractures (AFFs) from below the lesser trochanter to the sovracondilar line has been described.

Double fixation for complex distal femoral fractures
For complex distal femoral fractures, a single lateral locking compression plate or retrograde intramedullary nail may not achieve a stable environment for fracture healing.

Background The femoral neck system (FNS) may be a valid alternative for treating femoral neck fractures, but few studies have compared the outcomes between FNS and cannulated cancellous screws.

A Periprosthetic Femoral Fracture with Characteristics of Atypical Femoral Fracture [PDF]
Although the definition of atypical femoral fracture (AFF) excludes periprosthetic femoral fracture (PFF), the number of reports about PFF with characteristics of AFF is increasing. We present the case of such a fracture in this report. An 87-year-old woman who underwent bipolar hip arthroplasty for a femoral neck fracture 38 months prior reported left

The study included 14 cases of femur fracture in which two different techniques namely intramedullary interlocking nailing (IILN) (group-I; 9 cases) and end threaded pinning (ETP) (group-II; 5 cases) were used for fixation of the fracture.

Subtrochanteric fracture after femoral neck system of femoral neck fractures: a report of four cases
Background The femoral neck system (FNS) is commonly used for internal fixation of femoral neck fractures and has shown promising results. However, we have observed cases of peri-implant subtrochanteric femur fractures associated with the use of FNS at ...

Atypical femoral fracture [PDF]
Long-term use of bisphosphonate is defined as greater than three years for the treatment of osteoporosis.[1][1] This type of fracture accounts for 1.1% of all femoral fractures, with an age-adjusted incidence rate of 1.8 to 113 cases per 100 000 person-years for bisphosphonate exposure of less ...

Femoral neck fracture after femoral head necrosis: a case report and review of the literature
Introduction Pathological fractures of the femoral neck caused by necrosis of the femoral head are extremely rare. Here, we report a rare case of bilateral femoral head osteonecrosis extending to the femoral neck, with bilateral pathological fractures of
