Efficacy of Probiotics for Reducing the Incidence of Lameness in Broilers Grown on Wire Flooring [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Growing broilers on wire flooring provides an excellent experimental model for reproducibly triggering significant levels of lameness. In Pilot Study #1 using broilers from Line C grown on wire flooring, adding the Biomin probiotic PoultryStar® to the ...

Tumor‐Intrinsic ARHGEF3 Enhances Antitumor Immunity by Promoting T‐Cell Infiltration and Limiting Myeloid Cell‐Mediated Immunosuppression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ARHGEF3 is broadly downregulated across human cancers and correlates with patient prognosis. Tumor‐intrinsic ARHGEF3 activates the RHOA–ROCK–PTEN cascade to inhibit AKT signaling, thereby promoting chemokine‐driven T‐cell infiltration and relieving lipid‐mediated myeloid immunosuppression.

AAV-Anti-miR-214 Prevents Collapse of the Femoral Head in Osteonecrosis by Regulating Osteoblast and Osteoclast Activities

open access: yesMolecular Therapy: Nucleic Acids, 2019
Osteonecrosis of the femoral head, an intractable but common disease that eventually triggers collapse of the femoral head, is characterized by increased osteoclast activity and markedly decreased osteoblast activity in the necrotic region of the femoral

A Rabbit Model of Avascular Necrosis of Femoral Head Using Surgical Trauma and Systemic Steroids

open access: yesBezmiâlem Science, 2020
Objective:Avascular necrosis of the femoral head (ANFH) is a disease caused by the diminished circulation of the femoral head. The incidence of the disease is increasing and it has heavy socioeconomical burden.

Mechanically Robust Biodegradable Stents With Theragenerative Vascular Responses via Combined 3D Printing and Janus Nanoengineering

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work introduces a theragenerative 3D‐printed biodegradable stent with Janus nanoarchitecture for spatially controlled vascular healing. A luminal tantalum ion–implanted surface accelerates endothelialization and hemocompatibility, while an abluminal sirolimus/poly‐L‐lactic acid–tantalum layer provides sustained drug release and suppresses smooth ...

Bone Microarchitecture and Biomechanics of the Necrotic Femoral Head

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
The mechanism behind osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH) remains unclear. The aim of this study was to explore the pathogenesis of ONFH from a biomechanical standpoint to provide a theoretical basis for improved treatments.

Microrobotic Catheterization of the Ophthalmic Artery for Targeted Treatment of Retinoblastoma

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
A microrobotic platform is presented that allows teleoperated and autonomous navigation of flow‐driven magnetic microcatheters, MagFlow, into the ophthalmic artery for superselective intra‐arterial infusion of chemotherapy to treat retinoblastoma. Extensive benchtop validations with patient‐derived biomimetic phantoms under optical and fluoroscopic ...

Predicting the collapse of the femoral head due to osteonecrosis: From basic methods to application prospects

open access: yesJournal of Orthopaedic Translation, 2017
Summary Collapse of the femoral head is the most significant pathogenic complication arising from osteonecrosis of the femoral head. It is related to the disruption of the maintenance of cartilage and bone, and results in an impaired function of the ...
