Fatigue Fracture of the Femoral Neck
The Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery, 1966Forty-one fatigue fractures of the femoral neck in thirty-six patients are presented and analyzed. All occurred in men undergoing the first eight weeks of basic infantry training (with an average age of twenty-two and one-half years). The right hip was involved in eighteen patients and the left in thirteen; five had bilateral fractures.

The Treatment of Fractures of the Femoral Neck
Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, 1993Fifty-four femoral neck fractures in young adults (20-50 years old; Group I) were compared with 397 fractures in the elderly population (older than 60 years of age; Group III). Patients in Group I were more frequently men and had often sustained vertical shear fractures in high-energy injuries.

Surgical interventions consisting of internal fixation (IF) or total hip replacement (THR) are required to restore patient mobility after hip fractures. Conventionally, this decision was based solely upon the degree of fracture displacement. However, in the last ten years, there has been a move to incorporate patient characteristics into the decision ...

Pathologic Fracture of Femoral Neck
JAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association, 1963Dr.W. H.Harris: A 27-year-old Japanese post-graduate student was well until 15 months prior to admission to Massachusetts General Hospital, when pain spontaneously developed in the left hip. Roentgenograms were said to reveal a lesion of the proximal femur with a "little" fracture.

Coxarthrosis and Femoral Neck Fracture
Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, 1992A retrospective cross-sectional study of the roentgenograms of 300 hip fracture patients and 300 age- and gender-matched controls was performed to determine the relationship between fracture type, femoral neck trabecular bone integrity (as measured by the Singh index), osteoarthrosis, and age.

The transepiphyseal fracture of the femoral neck
Injury, 1980A patient with a transepiphyseal fracture of the femoral neck is described. The prognosis is known to be poor. Nevertheless, it is suggested that an attempt at an anatomical reduction should be made to aid an arthrodesis or reconstructive procedure at a later stage if necessary.

Fifty-four femoral neck stress fractures were studied prospectively to evaluate treatment methods. Fifty-four fractures in 49 patients were identified in a 4 year prospective study that included 1,049 stress fractures of all types. From our evaluation of treatment methods, a modification of existing classification systems was developed based on ...

Femoral neck fracture: a complication of femoral nailing
Injury, 1995A fracture of the shaft of the femur in adults is common after road traffic accidents. Until recently it was not known that a fracture of the femoral neck can occur while fixing the femoral shaft fracture with an intramedullary nail. We report three patients in whom femoral neck fractures occurred during femoral nailing.

STRESS FRACTURES OF THE FEMORAL NECK
The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery. British volume, 19651. Stress fractures of the femoral neck in twenty-five patients are described. 2. Two distinct radiological types, compression fractures and transverse fractures, are described. A clinical distinction cannot be made in the early stages. 3. The importance of the early differential diagnosis between the two types is emphasised because the transverse ...
