Clinical Results of Internal Fixation of Subcapital Femoral Neck Fractures
Background Subcapital femoral neck is known to cause many complications, such as avascular necrosis (AVN) of the femoral head or nonunion, compared with other femoral neck fractures.

A high‐glucose environment induced an imbalance in mitochondrial homeostasis, which resulted in the inhibition of bone tissue regeneration. In this study, we first introduce the exogenous noninvasive direct current electric field (DCEF) strategy for regulating mitochondrial homeostasis and explore its effect on bone regeneration in high‐glucose ...

ABSTRACT Introduction We aimed to assess the impact of introduction of a dedicated trauma surgical unit (TSU) on CT utilisation for polytrauma in the Emergency Department (ED). Methods Single centre retrospective cohort study comparing adult patients undergoing CT for polytrauma following TSU introduction (Intervention group, n = 617) to a historical ...

A Biomechanical Study on the Use of Curved Drilling Technique for Treatment of Osteonecrosis of Femoral Head [PDF]
Osteonecrosis occurs due to the loss of blood supply to the bone, leading to spontaneous death of the trabecular bone. Delayed treatment of the involved patients results in collapse of the femoral head, which leads to a need for total hip arthroplasty surgery.

Contour-based Bone Axis Detection for X-Ray Guided Surgery on the Knee [PDF]
The anatomical axis of long bones is an important reference line for guiding fracture reduction and assisting in the correct placement of guide pins, screws, and implants in orthopedics and trauma surgery. This study investigates an automatic approach for detection of such axes on X-ray images based on the segmentation contour of the bone.

Aim Fracture‐related femoral neck displacement is more likely in patients with schizophrenia because of delayed diagnosis, as these patients frequently have less severe fracture‐associated subjective symptoms.

Summary Introduction Data regarding the incidence of 12‐month postoperative cognitive decline following regional or general anaesthesia in older patients undergoing hip fracture surgery remain observational. Compared with general anaesthesia, we hypothesised that regional anaesthesia would decrease the incidence of 12‐month postoperative cognitive ...
