Pseudopathologic fracture of the femoral neck

Skeletal Radiology, 1981
We have seen two cases of traumatic subcapital fractures of the femoral neck which resembled pathologic fractures on plain radiography. We have named this entity “pseudopathologic fracture of the femoral neck” and offer suggestions for why it occurs.

Femoral Neck Fractures

2019
Fractures of the proximal femur, commonly termed hip fracture, is a devastating injury for any age of patient. The injury carries a high mortality as well as significant morbidity and impact of function. They can be divided into intracapsular (also called subcapital) fractures and extracapsular fractures.

Fractures of the femoral neck in adolescence

Injury, 1972
A series of fractures of the femoral neck in adolescence is presented. Most of the fractures were of the transcervical type. Treatment with plaster fixation or wire proved to be inadequate in displaced fractures in adolescence. When using a trifin nail a better result was obtained and a hole was drilled for the nail but in some cases the nail slipped ...

Femoral Neck Fractures

2017
There are very few true orthopedic emergencies. Several conditions such as open fractures, once thought to be emergent, have been shown in the literature to be urgencies that should be tended to in prompt rather than emergent fashion. Some notable emergencies are hemodynamically unstable pelvis fractures, necrotizing fasciitis, and compartment syndrome.

Predicting fracture of the femoral neck

Journal of Biomechanics, 2007
A prediction of the probability of safe loading of the femoral neck, based on queueing theory, is presented. The following methods have been applied: (I) criterion of bone fracture was formulated, taking into consideration the complex state of stress-strain in the porosity zones of the bone; (II) tensile stresses around pores in the stretched zone of ...

Comminuted Fracture of Femoral Neck

JAMA, 1964
Dr. W. A. Mnaymneh: A 38-year-old woman fell from a chair lift at a skiing resort one week prior to admission to this hospital. She dropped a distance of about ten feet, noted acute pain in her left hip, and was unable to walk. She was admitted to the local hospital and treated with Russell traction until her transfer here.

Femoral Neck Fractures

2009
Fractures around the hip joint result from violent force such as high-energy trauma or less frequently in association with pathological conditions [1]. Femoral neck fracture as an atypical presentation of child abuse has also been presented recently [2]. The overall incidence of femoral neck fractures in children is less than 1% [3].

Stress Fractures of the Femoral Neck

Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, 1998
Stress fractures of the femoral neck are uncommon injuries. In general these injuries are seen in two distinct populations: (1) young, healthy, active individuals such as recreational runners, endurance athletes, or military recruits; and (2) the elderly who have osteoporosis.

Femoral Neck Stress Fracture

Journal of Orthopaedic & Sports Physical Therapy, 2013
The patient was a 19-year-old woman who recently completed a military basic training program. She was evaluated by a physical therapist in a direct-access capacity for a chief complaint of anterior right hip pain that limited her ability to run. Due to the limited sensitivity of radiographs, magnetic resonance imaging of the right hip was obtained ...
