Femoral Neck Fractures

Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma, 2015
Femoral neck fractures are a commonly encountered injury in orthopaedic practice and result in significant morbidity and mortality. It is essential that surgeons are able to recognize specific fracture patterns and patient characteristics that indicate the use of particular implants and methods to effectively manage these injuries.

Femoral neck fatigue fracture

Archives of Orthopaedic and Traumatic Surgery, 1980
A report is presented on 25 fatigue fractures of the femoral neck in 20-year-old military recruits with an otherwise healthy skeleton. The problems of diagnosis are described. Principles for the treatment of these stress fractures are elaborated on the basis of pathophysiological considerations and of the clinical experience.

Fatigue Fracture of the Femoral Neck

The Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery, 1966

The Treatment of Fractures of the Femoral Neck

Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, 1993
Fifty-four femoral neck fractures in young adults (20-50 years old; Group I) were compared with 397 fractures in the elderly population (older than 60 years of age; Group III). Patients in Group I were more frequently men and had often sustained vertical shear fractures in high-energy injuries.

Femoral neck fractures

The Bone & Joint Journal, 2014
Surgical interventions consisting of internal fixation (IF) or total hip replacement (THR) are required to restore patient mobility after hip fractures. Conventionally, this decision was based solely upon the degree of fracture displacement. However, in the last ten years, there has been a move to incorporate patient characteristics into the decision ...

Coxarthrosis and Femoral Neck Fracture

Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, 1992
A retrospective cross-sectional study of the roentgenograms of 300 hip fracture patients and 300 age- and gender-matched controls was performed to determine the relationship between fracture type, femoral neck trabecular bone integrity (as measured by the Singh index), osteoarthrosis, and age.

The transepiphyseal fracture of the femoral neck

Injury, 1980
A patient with a transepiphyseal fracture of the femoral neck is described. The prognosis is known to be poor. Nevertheless, it is suggested that an attempt at an anatomical reduction should be made to aid an arthrodesis or reconstructive procedure at a later stage if necessary.

Femoral neck stress fractures

The American Journal of Sports Medicine, 1988
Fifty-four femoral neck stress fractures were studied prospectively to evaluate treatment methods.
