Bilateral fractures of the femoral neck

open access: yesJournal of Medical Sciences, 2022
Bilateral fractures of the femoral neck are rare and are usually associated with underlying bone diseases, previous metabolic diseases, high-energy trauma, electroshock, or seizure attack. Low-energy trauma, such as a fall, related bilateral fractures of

Shock machine for the mechanical behaviour of hip prostheses: a description of performance capabilities [PDF]

open access: yesLubrication Science 24, 2 (2012) 45-60, 2012
The aim of this study was to describe the behaviour of a shock machine designed for testing hip prostheses. A microseparation between head and cup occurs inducing a shock of several times the body weight, leading to fracture of ceramic femoral components.

Biallelic variants in the SLC13A1 sulfate transporter gene cause hyposulfatemia with a mild spondylo‐epi‐metaphyseal dysplasia

open access: yesClinical Genetics, Volume 103, Issue 1, Page 45-52, January 2023., 2023
We describe the first patient with biallelic loss‐of‐function variants in the SLC13A1 gene, encoding a renal and intestinal sulfate transporter. The consequential loss of renal sulfate reabsorption leads to hypersulfaturia and hyposulfatemia which is associated with a mild Spondylo‐Epi‐Metaphyseal skeletal Dysplasia. Abstract Sulfate is the fourth most

Computed tomographic diagnosis of a fracture of the floor of the pelvis in a Thoroughbred foal

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Education, Volume 35, Issue 2, Page 82-86, February 2023., 2023
Summary This case report describes the clinical and diagnostic imaging findings, treatment and outcomes of a 15‐day‐old Thoroughbred foal referred for the evaluation of severe left hindlimb lameness of 8 days' duration. Radiographic examination of the left hindlimb and transcutaneous ultrasonographic examination of the pelvis were unremarkable.

Exploring the displacement characteristics of Garden III femoral neck fractures and the reliability, validity, and value of the anteroposterior Garden Index in assessing displacement severity

open access: yesJournal of Orthopaedic Surgery and Research, 2023
Background Femoral neck fractures represent a significant public health concern, particularly in the elderly population. A thorough understanding and assessment of these fractures are deemed essential for optimal treatment and management.

Treatment of Young Femoral Neck Fractures

open access: yesJournal of Orthopaedics and Trauma, 2019
Summary: Femoral neck fractures in the physiologically young patient are challenging injuries to manage. A tenuous blood supply and the intrasynovial nature of the fracture create a challenging biological environment.

Inferior calcar buttress reduction pattern for displaced femoral neck fractures in young adults: a preliminary report and an effective alternative

open access: yesJournal of Orthopaedic Surgery and Research, 2019
BackgroundFracture reduction quality is of paramount importance for osteosynthesis. The aim of this study was to report the outcome of an inferior cortical buttress non-anatomic reduction pattern and internal fixation for displaced femoral neck fractures
