Simple Minimally Invasive Method to Reduce Valgus‐Impacted and Tilted Femoral Neck Fractures without Soft Tissue or Cartilage Injury: Radiological and Clinical Results

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery, 2023
Objective This is a rare study comparing the radiological and functional outcomes of fixation after reduction with in situ fixation group using Femoral Neck System (FNS).

SLC2A3‐Mediated Lactate Metabolism Promotes Lung Cancer Bone Metastasis by Modulating P53 Lactylation and Immune Evasion

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
SLC2A3 derived lactate promotes metastasis through p53 lactylation at K120 and osteoclast differentiation. Pharmacological inhibition of SLC2A3 upregulates PD‐1 expression on CD8+ T cells via lactate induced p53 lactylation, which modulates immune evasion. ABSTRACT Bone metastasis is a devastating consequence of lung cancer.

Thyroid hormone status within the physiological range affects bone mass and density in healthy men at the age of peak bone mass [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Context: The hormonal factors involved in the regulation of peak bone mass (PBM) in men have not been fully investigated. Apart from gonadal steroids and somatotropic hormones, thyroid hormones are known to affect bone maturation and homeostasis and are ...

Neuronal Cholesterol Deficiency Mediated by Astrocytic SREBP2 Downregulation Leads to Postoperative Cognitive Dysfunction Through Impairment of Hippocampal Synaptic Plasticity and Excitatory Synaptic Transmission

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The results showed that the reduction of plasma 24‐hydroxycholesterol (24‐OHC) was related to the cognitive decline in elderly surgical patients. Neuroinflammation induced by anesthesia and surgery significantly downregulated SREBP2 in hippocampal reactive astrocytes, resulting in reduced cholesterol synthesis.

Femoral neck nonunion: new classification used in total hip arthroplasty in elderly patients

open access: yesГений oртопедии, 2022
Introduction The risk of the femoral neck fracture nonunion is 48 % with avascular necrosis of the femoral head being reported in 42 % of cases. There are many classifications of acute intra-articular fractures of the proximal femur and there are no ...

Common variants in FLNB/CRTAP, not ARHGEF3 at 3p, are associated with Osteoporosis in southern Chinese women [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We performed an association study of five candidate genes within chromosome 3p14-25 in 1,080 Chinese female subjects. Polymorphisms in FLNB/CRTAP are associated with bone mineral density (BMD) in Chinese.

Homozygous Achondroplasia With Long‐Term Survival: Growth Patterns, Medical Interventions, and Practice Implications

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Homozygous achondroplasia is widely considered perinatal lethal by the medical community. In this case series, we report two children from a single family with longer‐term survival. One child lived for 17 months and the other was 60 months at the time of publication.

Comparison of Transverse Cancellous Lag Screw and Ordinary Cannulated Screw Fixations in Treatment of Vertical Femoral Neck Fractures

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery, 2019
Objective To compare the clinical therapeutic effect of transverse cancellous lag screw (TCLS) fixations and ordinary cannulated screw (OCS) fixations for vertical femoral neck fractures.

Clinical observation and finite element analysis of cannulated screw internal fixation in the treatment of femoral neck fracture based on different reduction quality

open access: yesJournal of Orthopaedic Surgery and Research, 2021
Objective Femoral neck fracture is one of the most common bone types. The effect of reduction quality on hip joint function and complications after screw internal fixation is not fully understood.

Revisiting paravertebral muscles in European rabbits (Oryctolagus cuniculus) and European brown hares (Lepus europaeus) (Leporidae; Lagomorpha)

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Domesticated European rabbits (Oryctolagus cuniculus) have long been chosen as laboratory model organisms. Despite this, there has been no definitive study of the vertebral musculature of wild rabbits. Relevant descriptions of well‐studied veterinary model mammals (such as dogs) are generally applicable, but not appropriate for a species ...
