Effects of exercise-induced arterial hypoxemia on limb muscle fatigue and performance [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
1. Reductions in arterial O2 saturation (−5% to −10% SaO2 below rest) occur over time during sustained heavy-intensity exercise in a normoxic environment, caused primarily by the effects of acid pH and increased temperature on the position of the ...

A United Kingdom survey of surgical technique and handling practice of inguinal canal structures during hernia surgery [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Background: Recent trials have assessed the impact of elective nerve division on patient outcome after inguinal herniorrhaphy. The aim of this study was to establish UK surgical practice of handling of structures in the inguinal canal during ...

Microendovascular Neural Recording from Cortical and Deep Vessels with High Precision and Minimal Invasiveness

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Intravascular electroencephalography (ivEEG) using micro‐intravascular electrodes was developed. Cortical‐vein ivEEG showed a higher signal‐to‐noise ratio and finer spatial resolution of somatosensory evoked potentials (SEPs) than superior sagittal sinus ivEEG, and deep‐vein ivEEG captured clear visual evoked potentials.

Repeated exercise stress impairs volitional but not magnetically evoked electromechanical delay of the knee flexors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The effects of serial episodes of fatigue and recovery on volitional and magnetically evoked neuromuscular performance of the knee flexors were assessed in twenty female soccer players during: (i) an intervention comprising 4x35s maximal static exercise;

Sacroiliac Joint Involvement: An Underreported Complication of NF1

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT NF1‐related bone dysplasia in children and young adults with neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) involving the sacroiliac joint has been rarely described. We report four participants who underwent whole‐body magnetic resonance imaging (WB‐MRI) as part of a longitudinal imaging and plexiform neurofibroma (PN) biomarker study (NCT05238909) at Ann ...

Delayed Femoral Nerve Palsy Associated with Iliopsoas Hematoma after Primary Total Hip Arthroplasty

open access: yesCase Reports in Orthopedics, 2016
Femoral nerve neuropathy after total hip arthroplasty is rare but catastrophic complication. Pain and quadriceps muscle weakness caused by this complication can significantly affect the functional outcome.

Noninvasive electrodiagnostic and motor function assessment of the common fibular nerve regeneration in the rabbit hindlimb

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
The rabbit model is well‐suited for peripheral nerve repair studies, using electrodiagnostic testing as an effective and reliable technique for fibular nerve regeneration evaluation, combined with motor function assessment using the toe spread index.

An in vivo electrophysiological preparation for mechanical, electrical and optical stimulation of sensory neurons that innervate murine bone

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
Recording the activity of sensory neurons that innervate bone in response to optical, electrical and mechanical stimulation. Abstract In this study, we aimed to develop an in vivo electrophysiological bone‐nerve preparation to record the activity of peripheral sensory neurons that innervate the murine tibia.
