3D‐Printed Functional Biphasic Scaffolds with Nanocomposites for Osteochondral Regeneration: A Step Toward Bioengineered Cartilage and Bone Integration

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
A biphasic scaffold comprised of polycaprolactone/laponite and methylsulfonylmethane (MSM)‐loaded polycaprolactone/chitosan is 3D‐printed to form an osteochondral interface. Strong interfacial adhesion between the bone and cartilage layers prevented interfacial separation.

Femoral nerve neuropathy after the psoas hitch procedure [PDF]

open access: yesEinstein (São Paulo), 2012
Femoral nerve neuropathy as a complication from abdominopelvicsurgery was firstly described in 1896, by Gumpertz, in a casereport of femoral nerve injury following hysterectomy. The authorsreport two cases of femoral nerve neuropathy following psoashitch

Bilateral Femoral Nerve Compression and Compartment Syndrome Resulting from Influenza A–Induced Rhabdomyolysis: A Case Report

open access: yesJournal of Orthopaedic Surgery, 2008
Bilateral femoral nerve compression neuropathy caused by primary iliopsoas muscle pathology is rare. We report a case of extensive compartment syndrome of the right arm and both legs associated with bilateral femoral nerve palsy resulting from severe ...

Sciatic and femoral nerve sensory neurones occupy different regions of the L4 dorsal root ganglion in the adult rat. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The topographical distribution of sciatic and femoral nerve sensory neuronal somata in the L4 dorsal root ganglion of the adult rat was mapped after retrograde tracing with one or two of the dyes Fast Blue, Fluoro-Gold, or Diamidino Yellow.

MEMS‐Based Magnetoelectric Antennas for Wireless Power Transmission in Brain‐Implantable Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Magnetoelectric (ME) antennas allow the minimization of the invasiveness of brain implantable devices, via powering wirelessly systems able to actuate neural tissue. In order to achieve the necessary power efficiency transmission, the choice of the materials and the system assembly is vital.

Steroid Receptor Coactivator‐1 Drives Tumor‐Associated Macrophage Reprogramming by Mediating MMP12 Transcription in Pancreatic Cancer Perineural Invasion

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Steroid receptor coactivator‐1 (SRC‐1) reprograms tumor‐associated macrophages (TAMs) via signal transducer and activator of transcription 1(STAT1)‐mediated matrix metallopeptidase 12 (MMP12) transcription to drive perineural invasion (PNI) in pancreatic cancer.

Potentiating Cerebral Perfusion Normalizes Glymphatic Dynamics in Systemic Inflammation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
LPS‐induced systemic inflammation increases glymphatic influx but delays cervical lymphatic drainage, accompanied by AQP4 depolarization and impaired glymphatic clearance. Enhancing cerebral blood flow via the inotropic agent levosimendan effectively restored AQP4 polarization, improving glymphatic flux and amyloid‐β clearance.
