Retroperitoneal hematoma associated with femoral neuropathy: a complication under antiplatelets therapy. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
We report a case of retroperitoneal hematoma presenting as femoral nerve pulsy on antiplatelet therapy. The patient, a 78-year-old man who had undergone antiplatelet treatment using ticlopidine, was admitted to our hospital with complaints of sudden ...

Tourniquet-Related Iatrogenic Femoral Nerve Palsy after Knee Surgery: Case Report and Review of the Literature

open access: yesCase Reports in Orthopedics, 2013
Purpose. Tourniquet-induced nerve injuries have been reported in the literature, but even if electromyography abnormalities in knee surgery are frequent, only two cases of permanent femoral nerve palsies have been reported, both after prolonged ...

ZNF865 (BLST) a Novel Regulator of DNA Damage and Cell Senescence in Back Pain

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 25, Issue 10, October 2026.
ZNF865 (BLST) has previously been classified as part of the “unknome”, but here in the context of back pain, we demonstrate the first functional characterization of ZNF865. We demonstrate that it regulates genomic stability and subsequent senescence, and that downregulation in the intervertebral disc leads to pain behavior in rodent models.

Post‐Market Analysis of the Xenios Console With the Xlung Tubing Kit 230 for Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation After Cardiac Surgery

open access: yesArtificial Organs, Volume 50, Issue 10, Page 1464-1475, October 2026.
This study is a comprehensive post‐market analysis of the Xenios console and XLung kit 230 preconfigured ECMO tubing set in post‐cardiotomy applications. The performance of this device was evaluated and demonstrated in all key clinical areas, with an adequate safety profile.

Chronic Limb‐Threatening Ischemia Shows No Adaptability of Mitochondrial Function After Revascularisation

open access: yesJournal of Cellular and Molecular Medicine, Volume 30, Issue 20, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Peripheral arterial disease (PAD) impairs limb perfusion, leading to myopathy characterised by altered mitochondrial content and respiration. Because ischemic muscle appears to adapt differently across PAD stages, we examined stage‐specific skeletal‐muscle mitochondrial function before and after successful revascularisation. Muscle biopsies of

Myostatin‐dependent detrusor remodelling mediates contractility impairment in diabetic rats’ bladder – a maximal elastance analysis

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, Volume 604, Issue 20, Page 8428-8449, 15 October 2026.
Abstract figure legend In the muscular layer of long‐standing diabetic bladders increased myostatin expression promotes tissue remodelling by reducing the muscle‐to‐collagen ratio, ultimately diminishing bladder contractility. Maximal elastance – defined as the slope of the end‐emission pressure–volume relationship (EPR), derived from the regression ...

Post-surgical inflammatory neuropathy after anterior cruciate ligament repair: a case report

open access: yesPerioperative Medicine
Background Unanticipated symptoms of peripheral nerve damage following surgery are distressing to both the patient and their clinical team, including surgeons, anesthesiologists, and neurologists. The causes that are commonly considered for perioperative

Profound Neuropathy after Penetrating Transection of the Sciatic Nerve by Femoral Cerclage Wire: Illustrative Case and Management Strategy

open access: yesNeurotrauma Reports
Sciatic nerve injury associated with total hip arthroplasty (THA) confers chronic and progressive disability. Mechanisms of injury are heterogeneous and management nuances are often case-specific.
