Use of a Superficial Femoral Artery Autograft as a Femoral Vein Replacement
Annals of Vascular Surgery, 2015Posttraumatic arteriovenous fistulas (AVFs) are common complications of vascular penetrating trauma. Here we present a case of a 59-year-old woman who had a history of gunshot injury 42 years ago causing AVF between superficial femoral artery (SFA) and superficial femoral vein (SFV). SFV was resected. Ipsilateral SFA was used to restore SFV.

Cystic degeneration of the femoral vein
The Lancet, 199711 cases of cystic degeneration of a limb vein have been described. The etiology and treatment of this degeneration are uncertain. One hypothesis is that there are ectopic cells producing mucopolysaccarides in the venous wall. The main differential diagnosis is angiosarcoma.

Cystic myxomatous degeneration of the femoral vein
European Journal of Vascular Surgery, 1987We present a case of cystic myxomatous degeneration of the femoral vein. The features are similar to those found in the equivalent disease of arteries. It is suggested that it may occur in veins as an unusual and rare late sequel of venous thrombosis and recanalisation. A search of the literature has revealed only one previously reported case.

Adventitial Cystic Disease of the Femoral Vein
Annals of Vascular Surgery, 2010Adventitial cystic disease of the blood vessel wall is a rare disease. It occurs most commonly in arteries and very rarely in veins (Levien and Benn, J. Vasc. Surg. 1998;28:193-205). We report the case of a 28-year-old man with severe adventitial cystic disease of the femoral vein who underwent a resection of the cystic wall.

SUPERFICIAL FEMORAL VEIN LIGATION
JAMA, 1960To the Editor:— We appreciate the abstracting of our article, "Results Obtained by Superficial Femoral Vein Ligation," (Keisker and Bowers: Surgery 47: 224 [Feb.] 1960) inThe Journal, May 14, page 208. In the abstract, however, there is a mistake concerning the statistical analysis of the follow-up studies which would tend to influence the reader ...

Surgical management of femoral vein thrombosis
The American Journal of Surgery, 1945Abstract Homans' clinical forms of femoral vein thrombosis are reviewed. Indications for surgical intervention are given. Two approaches to the femoral vein are described and details of the operative procedure in thrombotic disease given. Femoral vein ligation for prophylactic purposes in the absence of embolism is debatable. Femoral vein exploration

The femoral triangle and superficial veins of the leg
Anaesthesia & Intensive Care Medicine, 2007Abstract The femoral triangle is important in puncture and exposure of the femoral artery, block dissection of the groin lymph nodes and surgery of the great saphenous vein at its termination. The great (long) saphenous vein passes upwards from in front of the medial malleolus to a hand's breadth behind the patella to pierce the deep fascia at the ...
