Femtosecond Beam Transformation Effects in Water, Enabling Increased Throughput Micromachining in Transparent Materials [PDF]

open access: goldApplied Sciences, 2019
Femtosecond lasers are widely applied in scientific and industrial fields. Recent trends in the laser market show decreasing prices for femtosecond units, which will ultimately lead to the opening of new markets that were inaccessible in the past due to ...

Mid-infrared parametric wavelength conversion seeded with fiber optical parametric sources [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2021
A new method of seeding X2 optical parametric converters with X3 fiber optical parametric sources is introduced. We demonstrate a tunable mid-infrared source operating at around 3 µm with the technique and discuss the potential of this architecture.

Varying pre-plasma properties to boost terahertz wave generation in liquids

open access: yesCommunications Physics, 2021
Terahertz frequency radiation provides a powerful tool for the investigation of matter from the life science to the solid state and plasmas. The authors experimentally and numerically present enhanced terahertz wave generation by single-color double ...

Radiation shift from triple to quadruple frequency caused by the interaction of terahertz pulses with a nonlinear Kerr medium

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
High-intensity optical radiation propagation in a transparent dielectric medium causes the phenomena of pulse self-action and radiation generation at triple frequencies due to the cubic nonlinearity of the medium.

Controlled Spintronic Emitter of THz Radiation on an Atomically Thin WS2/Silicon Substrate

open access: yesMetals, 2022
The control and monitoring of the polarization of terahertz radiation are of interest for numerous applications. Here we present a simple controllable THz emitter with a small coercive magnetic field.

Femtosecond covariance spectroscopy [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 2019
Significance Here we establish femtosecond covariance spectroscopy as a technique that uses ultrashort stochastic light pulses to measure nonlinear material responses. By using pulses with spectrally uncorrelated fluctuations we can leverage on the noise and consider each repetition of the experiment as a measurement under different ...

Clocking Femtosecond X Rays [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2005
Linear-accelerator-based sources will revolutionize ultrafast x-ray science due to their unprecedented brightness and short pulse duration. However, time-resolved studies at the resolution of the x-ray pulse duration are hampered by the inability to precisely synchronize an external laser to the accelerator.

Large interfacial contribution to ultrafast THz emission by inverse spin Hall effect in CoFeB/Ta heterostructure

open access: yesiScience, 2022
Summary: Ultrafast THz radiation generation from ferromagnetic/nonmagnetic (FM/NM) spintronic heterostructures generally exploits the spin-charge conversion within the nonmagnetic layer and its interface with the ferromagnetic layer. Various possible sub-
