Interprosthetic Fractures of the Femur
Orthopedics, 2018As the rate of hip and knee arthroplasty procedures increases, so will the rate of interprosthetic fractures. Several factors, including bone quality, bone quantity, and stability of the prosthetic components, play a role in determining the appropriate operative treatment.

Fractures of the hip are associated with various complications. Patients with hip fractures are often bed-bound and require intensive nursing and care. The rate of hip fractures is likely to continue to rise globally, and early intervention is currently seen as the optimal course for patients with such injuries.

Intracortical lipoma of the femur
Skeletal Radiology, 2007Intracortical lipoma is an extremely rare benign primary bone tumor. We encountered a case of an intracortical lipoma found incidentally in the femur of a 31-year-old female. Magnetic resonance imaging and computed tomography of the femur demonstrated an intracortical fatty lesion in the posterolateral aspect of the diaphysis.

Experiences with functional bracing of certain femoral fractures have been rewarding by virtue of the fact that length, alignment, and rotation were adequately maintained during functional ambulation during fracture healing. However, the femur has been the least consistent bone to respond well to functional bracing. Angulatory deformities, usually of a

Supracondylar Fractures of the Femur
Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, 1984Twenty-three fractures of the distal femur were treated by open reduction and internal fixation with a compression screw device. Eleven to 34 months of clinical and radiographic follow-up evaluation was available in 19 patients. No nonunions or implant failures and only one deep wound infection occurred.

Subtrochanteric femur and proximal femur shaft fractures
2009Subtrochanteric femur fractures and proximal femur shaft fractures are severe injuries. They are considered as problematical fractures at the lower extremity. Subtrochanteric femoral fractures and proximal femoral shaft fractures occur more rarely in comparison with pertrochanteric femoral fractures.
