Congenital Deficiency of the Femur

Journal of Pediatric Orthopaedics, 1985
A classification system for congenital deficiency of the femur is introduced, based on initial radiographic appearance of the hip joint in 60 patients (70 affected limbs). Follow-up records ranging from 1 to 30 years demonstrated a relatively constant percentage of shortening in each patient with further growth (2.4% average change). Treatment programs

Infantile Fibrosarcoma of Femur

Fetal and Pediatric Pathology, 1987
We describe the clinical presentation and pathological features of an infantile fibrosarcoma of the femur that occurred in a 3 1/2-month-old male infant. The tumor grew rapidly, reaching large size within a few months, finally requiring amputation. The tumor was poorly circumscribed, infiltrating the adjacent soft tissue extensively.

Interprosthetic Fractures of the Femur

Orthopedics, 2018
As the rate of hip and knee arthroplasty procedures increases, so will the rate of interprosthetic fractures. Several factors, including bone quality, bone quantity, and stability of the prosthetic components, play a role in determining the appropriate operative treatment.

Fractures of the Femur

1987
The femur, the largest tubular bone in the body, is surrounded by the largest mass of muscles and is designed to withstand greater forces than any other bone. Fractures of the femur are almost always the result of great violence and are sometimes a threat to the patient’s life, not only because of the immediate complications such as bleeding or ...

Changes in trabecular pattern of the upper end of the femur as an index of osteoporosis.

Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery. American volume, 1970
Roentgenograms of the hip region, in a series of thirty-five patients above the age of fifty years, were studied with particular reference to the trabecular pattern of the upper end of the femur.

Intracortical lipoma of the femur

Skeletal Radiology, 2007
Intracortical lipoma is an extremely rare benign primary bone tumor. We encountered a case of an intracortical lipoma found incidentally in the femur of a 31-year-old female. Magnetic resonance imaging and computed tomography of the femur demonstrated an intracortical fatty lesion in the posterolateral aspect of the diaphysis.

Hip and femur

2018
Fractures of the hip are associated with various complications. Patients with hip fractures are often bed-bound and require intensive nursing and care. The rate of hip fractures is likely to continue to rise globally, and early intervention is currently seen as the optimal course for patients with such injuries.

Fractures of the Femur

1981
Experiences with functional bracing of certain femoral fractures have been rewarding by virtue of the fact that length, alignment, and rotation were adequately maintained during functional ambulation during fracture healing. However, the femur has been the least consistent bone to respond well to functional bracing. Angulatory deformities, usually of a
