Finite element modeling of proximal femur with quantifiable weight-bearing area in standing position

open access: yesJournal of Orthopaedic Surgery and Research, 2020
Background The positional distribution and size of the weight-bearing area of the femoral head in the standing position as well as the direct active surface of joint force can directly affect the result of finite element (FE) stress analysis.

Risk factors for ischemic osteonecrosis of the femoral head after internal fixation with multiple cannulated screws for Pauwels type III femoral neck fracture [PDF]

open access: yesVojnosanitetski Pregled
Background/Aim. Numerous factors lead to hip fractures that are common and often devastating in the geriatric population. The aim of the study was to determine the risk factors for ischemic osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH) in patients after ...

Preliminary report on the Myrmeleontidae (Neuroptera) of Paraguay [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Ten species of antlions are confirmed as present in Paraguay and seven additional species are suspected to be present there. All of the species are found also in Argentina and Brazil except for Eremoleon pulchra (Esben- Petersen) which is endemic to ...

A Canine Musculoskeletal Robot for Investigating Biomechanical Functions During Locomotion

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
In this study, a dog limb musculoskeletal robot was developed using thin McKibben artificial muscles to investigate the effects of the dog's musculoskeletal structure on walking. Walking experiments were conducted in both indoor and outdoor environments, suggesting that the flexible structure of the dog's shoulders contributes to an increase in stroke ...

CT-Based Evaluation of Bone Mineral Density Distribution of Proximal Femur in Patients With Femoral Trochanteric Fracture

open access: yesGeriatric Orthopaedic Surgery & Rehabilitation
Background Surgical treatment of proximal femoral fractures typically involves fixation with intramedullary nailing or sliding hip screws, where screws inserted into the femoral head stabilize the fracture site.

CDK4/6 Inhibition Induces CD8+ T Cell Antitumor Immunity via MIF‐Induced Functional Orchestration of Tumor‐Associated Macrophages

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
CDK4/6 inhibition promotes CD8+ T cell expansion through tumor‐macrophage crosstalk by activating HIF‐1α and enhancing MIF‐CD44/CD74 signaling. This reprograms TAMs to boost MHC‐I antigen presentation, and CDK4/6 inhibitor‐trained M1 TAM supernatant therapy synergizes with low‐dose PD‐1 blockade to restore antitumor immunity.

Prenatal diagnosis of proximal focal femoral deficiency: Literature review of prenatal sonographic findings [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Proximal focal femoral deficiency (PFFD) is a rare musculoskeletal malformation that occurs in 0.11-0.2 per 10,000 live births. This congenital anomaly involves the pelvis and proximal femur with widely variable manifestations, from mild femoral ...
