IRRADIATION NECROSIS OF THE HEAD OF THE FEMUR
Archives of Surgery, 1950WITH THE increasing frequency of the use of high voltage roentgen rays in the treatment of malignant neoplasms, the effects on normal tissue have become increasingly important to the radiotherapist and to the clinician. Not the least important of these effects are the changes occurring in bone and cartilage, although they do not appear to be widely ...

Heapranase role in the treatment of avascular necrosis of femur head
Thrombosis Research, 2013Idiopathic avascular necrosis (AVN) of bone causes significant morbidity in adults although the pathophysiology is unknown. The present treatment options include systemic biphosphonate therapy and local bone drilling decompression, ameliorating the healing process and their by render the weight bearing femur head less vulnerable to collapse.

MRI in Evaluation of Avascular Necrosis of Head of Femur
Indian Journal of Mednodent and Allied Sciences, 2017The purpose of the study was to describe the role of Magnetic Resonance Imaging in evaluation of Avascular necrosis of femoral head and study the age, gender, symptoms among the study group. MRI examination of 48 patients who were clinically suspected with Avascular necrosis of femoral head and referred to department of Radiology, Osmania general ...

Imaging modalities in avascular necrosis of the hip
Der Orthopäde, 2000Diagnosis of avascular necrosis (AVN) of the hip has been improved by the technical progress of imaging modalities during the last decade. For a long period, only plain radiographs had been available. Scintigraphy and computed tomography contributed to differential diagnosis and early detection of bone necrosis.

Avascular Necrosis of Head of Femur in a Patient with Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia
Leukemia & Lymphoma, 2000Avascular necrosis (AVN) of head of the femur is associated with various pathological conditions and treatment modalities. We present a case of acute promyelocytic leukemia who was treated with all-transretinoic acid (ATRA), daunomycin, cytarabine and a short course of dexamethasone. He developed AVN of bone after 2 years of treatment.

Animal Models of Femur Head Necrosis for Tissue Engineering and Biomaterials Research
Tissue Engineering Part C: Methods, 2022Femur head necrosis, also known as osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH), is a widespread disabling pathology mostly affecting young and middle-aged population and one of the major causes of total hip arthroplasty in the elderly. Currently, there are limited number of different clinical or medication options for the treatment or the reversal of ...

Avascular Necrosis of Femoral Head Secondary to Intramedullary Nailing of Femur
2023Background: Avascular necrosis (AVN) of the femoral head post intramedullary nailing of femur is a significant clinical concern, often resulting from multiple factors. This study aimed to determine the incidence of AVN and identify potential risk factors following intramedullary nailing.

Arthroscopic mobilization of the hip joint in children with aseptic necrosis of the femur head
Journal of Pediatric Orthopaedics B, 2010The purpose of the study was to evaluate the ability of arthroscopic mobilization of the hip to improve restricted range of motion after failed conservative therapy (level IV) of patient with aseptic necrosis of the femoral head. We examined 11 patients (eight male, three female). The average age at follow-up was 13 years (8-17 years).

Roentgenograms of 1,410 hips from 705 alcoholics were compared with those of 200 hips from 100 controls for changes consistent with non-traumatic (idiopathic) necrosis of the femoral head according to the findings diagnostic of necrosis of bone that were outlined by the Decompression Sickness Panel of the British Medical Research Council. Abnormalities

Giant bone island of femur with femoral head necrosis: a case report
Archives of Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery, 2009A bone island is a hamartomatous malformation in the bone, unusually having a huge expansion. We report a rare case of giant bone island of femur concurrent with ipsilateral femoral head necrosis. Although roentgenographic features indicated the possible diagnosis of bone island, there were unusual findings, such as a huge expansion of the lesion ...
