"Neglected neck of femur fracture: Valgus intertrochanteric osteotomy, rigid internal fixation and cortical bone grafting": Forgotten but useful technique

open access: yesJournal of Orthopedics, Traumatology and Rehabilitation, 2014
Nonunion of fracture neck of femur is still a formidable surgical challenge. We hereby report a case of 23-year-old male who presented to us 6 years after trauma with a fracture neck of the femur with 7 cm shortening. In view of his young age, we treated

Core Fucosylation Represses SMURF1‐Dependent Degradation of CD47 to Promote Tumor Immune Evasion

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
FUT8‐mediated core fucosylation of CD47 at N111 blocks SMURF1 binding and reduces CD47 ubiquitination and degradation. Blocking N111 glycosylation reduces CD47 expression and promotes macrophage phagocytosis of tumor cells. Furthermore, ablating CD47 core fucosylation boosts CD103+ dendritic cells (DCs) infiltration, increases natural killer (NK) cell ...

First records of Acrotaphus fuscipennis (Cresson) and of A. tibialis (Cameron) from the United States (Hymenoptera: Ichneumonidae) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Acrotaphus fuscipennis (Cresson), distinctive because of its black wings and bright red body, is recorded for the first time from the United States. It was reared from araneid spiders collected in Florida, which constitutes the first host record for this

Leucine‐Dependent SLC7A5–PGAM5 Interaction Promotes Advanced Atherosclerosis Through Hindering Mitochondrial Function of Macrophages

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Higher plasma leucine is associated with increased risk of new‐onset myocardial infarction. Leucine deprivation alleviates advanced atherosclerosis in mice. Tumor‐induced leucine deprivation reprograms macrophage metabolism and increases CD5Lhi macrophages in mouse plaques. Mechanistically, leucine deficiency reduced SLC7A5‐PGAM5 binding in macrophages,

REGIONAL VARIATION OF MORPHOMETRIC MEASUREMENTS OF PROXIMAL END OF FEMUR IN COASTAL ANDHRA PRADESH AND ITS CLINICAL IMPLICATION TO IMPROVE SURGICAL OUTCOME

open access: yesNational Journal of Medical Research, 2017
Introduction: The neck of femur is an important modification in human being. The neck-shaft angle and different parameters of neck are clinically important to diagnose pathological conditions of the hip joint and also helpful in the treatment and follow-

MORPHOMETRIC STUDY OF THE DRY FEMUR IN SOUTH GUJARAT POPULATION

open access: yesNational Journal of Medical Research, 2020
Introduction: Femur is the longest and strongest bone of the body located within thigh extending from hip to knee. In upright posture, it transmits the body weight from hip to knee.

Identification of a Force‐Induced Sox9+Acan+ Transitional Subpopulation Linked to FGF2–FGFR2–ERK Signaling in Orthodontic Bone Remodeling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Mechanical loading induces a previously unrecognized Sox9+Acan+ transitional mesenchymal cell population in the periodontal ligament that promotes osteoclastogenesis via the FGF2–FGFR2–ERK axis. Targeting this mechanoresponsive stromal population using a localized GelMA@siRNA delivery strategy attenuates pathological osteoclast overactivation and root ...

Colorectal Cancer Cell's Weapon: RNF32 Engages SPP1+ Macrophages to Foster Liver Metastasis, Targeted by Indole‐3‐Acetic Acid

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Cytoplasmic RNF32 fuels CRC liver metastasis by degrading GSK3β, which stabilizes β‐catenin and activates Wnt/EMT. Moreover, RNF32 rewires the metastatic niche: it depletes CD8+/CD4+ T and NK cells while recruiting SPP1+ macrophages (which boost tumor stemness via CD44), fibroblasts, and immunosuppressive monocytes to aid colonization.
