Fenestration of the intima to facilitate successful endovascular repair of a dissecting abdominal aneurysm

open access: yesReviews in Cardiovascular Medicine, 2021
Aortic aneurysm is an enlargement of the aorta with a loss of the arterial wall parallelism. There are several possible causes concerning etiology, one of which is the postsurgical presence of a patent distal false lumen.

Gingival fenestration management: A rarefied case entity and literature review

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacy and Bioallied Sciences, 2020
Dehiscence and fenestration are commonly confronted alveolar defects. But the combined mucosal and alveolar fenestration is uncommonly reported in the literature as they less often cause pain, and in majority of the cases, only aesthetic complaint is ...

In Situ Laser Fenestration Is a Feasible Method for Revascularization of Aortic Arch During Thoracic Endovascular Aortic Repair

open access: yesJournal of the American Heart Association: Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease, 2017
BackgroundReconstruction of the aortic major branches during thoracic endovascular aortic repair is complicated because of the complex anatomic configuration and variation of the aortic arch.

A newer method of seroma reduction by fenestration of pseudo-sac during laparoscopic repair of direct inguinal hernia: A randomised, controlled pilot study

open access: yesJournal of Minimal Access Surgery, 2023
Background: Minimally invasive surgeries for inguinal hernia repair have been reduced post-operative morbidity. However, certain complications such as seroma formation are unavoidable.

Case Report: Fenestration embedded in large vessel occlusion at non-branching site: A catastrophic trap for mechanical thrombectomy

open access: yesFrontiers in Surgery, 2022
Fenestrations are rare anatomical variants characterized by division of an artery into two channels which join distally to form a single lumen. We here present two acute ischemic stroke patients with occlusion in an arterial segment with fenestration ...

A 3D‐Printed Vascular‐Like Perfusion Tumor‐on‐a‐Chip Recapitulates High‐Grade Breast Cancer With in Vivo‐Relevant Drug Resistance

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A high‐resolution 3D‐printed tumor‐on‐a‐chip platform sustains breast cancer tissues at in vivo–like cell densities through vascular‐like perfusion. This engineered system recapitulates grade‐dependent molecular features and exhibits drug‐resistance profiles that uniquely align with clinically relevant Cmax values.

Negotiating in a Foreign Land: Understanding the Curious Interactions Between Intracellular Mitochondria and Internalized Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Therapeutic nano‐drug delivery systems interact with cellular mitochondria in a multitude of ways. While the complexity of such interactions disrupts the mitochondrial electron transport chain and increases reactive oxygen species production, thereby contributing to nanoparticle toxicity, they also present unique theranostic opportunities in diseases ...
