Organ Specificity and Commonality of Epigenetic Aging in Low- and High-Running Capacity Rats. [PDF]

open access: yesAging Cell
Cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF) is not associated with epigenetic clocks, including newly developed ones. On the other hand, CRF is associated with global methylation profiles and promoter methylation in organ‐specific and organ‐common manner. ABSTRACT Epigenetic drift, which is gradual age‐related changes in DNA methylation patterns, plays a ...

Comparison of rapid preparation methods for Pb isotope analysis of high‐Pb ceramic glazes: A case study of late medieval Besztercebánya/Banská Bystrica‐type stove tiles

open access: yesArchaeometry, Volume 65, Issue 5, Page 1004-1017, October 2023., 2023
Abstract This study identified the provenance of Pb flux used in the production of the glaze of unique, high‐quality late medieval stove tiles from the northern part of the Carpathian Basin, and elaborated and evaluated a fast preparation process to measure Pb isotope ratios in high‐Pb glazes. We compared three different methods of preparation.

Low-burden TP53 mutations represent frequent genetic events in CLL with an increased risk for treatment initiation. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Pathol Clin Res
Abstract TP53 aberrations predict chemoresistance and represent a contraindication for the use of standard chemoimmunotherapy in chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL). Recent next‐generation sequencing (NGS)‐based studies have identified frequent low‐burden TP53 mutations with variant allele frequencies below 10%, but the clinical impact of these low ...

Trait‐based effects of plant invasion on floral resources, hoverflies and bees

open access: yesInsect Conservation and Diversity, Volume 16, Issue 4, Page 483-496, July 2023., 2023
Morphological and phenological traits could drive the plant‐pollinator communities under plant invasion. Half of the studied invasive plant species differed in their floral traits from the native flowering plants. Invasion caused species‐specific functional diversity changes, larger hoverflies in general, smaller bees associated with an invasive ...

Novel Approach for the Isolation and Immobilization of a Recombinant Transaminase: Applying an Advanced Nanocomposite System

open access: yesChemBioChem, Volume 24, Issue 7, April 3, 2023., 2023
In one go: Combining nanoparticles with affinity tags and polymeric nanofibers provides an advanced nanocomposite that allows the isolation and immobilization a recombinant enzyme. The developed method reduced the time and cost required for enzyme isolation, purification and immobilization compared to a classical stepwise technique.

History of science in Hungary: Stewardship and audience in periods of institutional and political change

open access: yesCentaurus, Volume 63, Issue 3, Page 585-602, August 2021., 2021
Abstract The paper introduces the development of history of science in Hungary, focusing on the status of the field in the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, universities, and scientific societies, and the “local” output in Hungarian. The genres associated with the field became popular in the early 20th century, and the institutional framework was created ...
