Fungal β‐1,3‐Glucanases: Characterization and Immobilization for Continuous Application in Winemaking

open access: yesFood Frontiers, Volume 7, Issue 6, November 2026.
Immobilization of β‐1,3‐glucanase enhances enzyme stability and enables continuous wine clarification, achieving significant turbidity reduction and 75%–80% glucan degradation within 24 h. ABSTRACT This work presents an innovative continuous biocatalytic system based on immobilized β‐1,3‐glucanase for white wine clarification.

Growth, Carcass Quality and Gut Microbiota Responses to Extruded Rapeseed Meal With Protease in Broiler Chickens

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 6, November 2026.
The 5%–7.5% extruded rapeseed meal improved broiler growth, nutrient digestibility, carcass traits, intestinal morphology and gut microbial balance. ABSTRACT Background Soybean meal (SBM) is a major protein source in broiler diets, but its cost and dependence on a limited number of protein sources have increased interest in alternative feed ingredients.

Solid‐State Fermentation of Legumes: Multi‐Scale Structural Modifications to Unlock Techno‐Functional Properties

open access: yesComprehensive Reviews in Food Science and Food Safety, Volume 25, Issue 6, November 2026.
ABSTRACT Legumes are increasingly used as functional ingredients in plant‐based foods. However, their compact endogenous structure restricts techno‐functional properties. Conventional fractionation methods that isolate proteins further impair these properties and generate co‐products.

Cuttings, Combings, Fettlings and Flock: Gender and Australian Wool ‘Waste’, 1900–1950

open access: yesGender &History, Volume 38, Issue 3, Page 859-869, October 2026.
ABSTRACT As Australia's wool industry produced vast amounts of fine fleece from the nineteenth century, the wool processing and clothes manufacturing industries generated waste – products like cuttings, combings, fettlings and flock. Salvaged and then sold to waste merchants, these and other materials had a second life.
