Boosting Cr(VI) Reduction via Microwave Catalysis Using Oxygen‐Vacancy‐Rich MnFe2O4@ZnFe2O4 Heterojunctions

open access: yesCarbon Neutralization, Volume 5, Issue 3, May 2026.
The microwave‐assisted reduction of Cr(VI) over oxygen‐vacancy‐rich MnFe2O4@ZnFe2O4 (MZFO‐VO) heterojunction microspheres is highly efficient. Oxygen vacancies lower the work function and facilitate bulk‐to‐surface electron migration, while Fe–O anchoring sites selectively adsorb and reduce dichromate ions.

Glycerol Valorization to High‐Value Chemicals: Chemical and Biocatalytic Routes With Emphasis on Enzyme Immobilization and Laccase/TEMPO Systems: A Review

open access: yesChemNanoMat, Volume 12, Issue 5, May 2026.
Fossil fuel reserves are rapidly depleting, while global energy demands continue to rise, prompting researchers to seek sustainable alternatives. Among these, biofuels, particularly biodiesel, stand out as a biocompatible and friendly option. However, biodiesel production via transesterification generates large quantities of glycerol (GOL) as a by ...

Anchorage System Contribution to Post‐Tensioned Bridge Collapse

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 8, Issue 5, May 2026.
This paper presents an experimental investigation of a 1960s precast post‐tensioned girder bridge in Trstena, Slovakia, revealing severe corrosion and anchorage degradation that ultimately led to its collapse. The findings highlight critical vulnerabilities in obsolete anchorage systems and emphasize the need for proactive assessment and maintenance of

A Symmetric Boost Converter With 6 mV Input Voltage and 66% Peak Efficiency for Thermoelectric Energy Harvesting

open access: yesEnergy Technology, Volume 14, Issue 5, May 2026.
A symmetric boost converter combining a Meissner oscillator with a forward stage enables ultralow‐voltage energy harvesting from thermoelectric generators. The prototype cold‐starts at 18 mV and sustains operation down to 6 mV, achieving > 63% efficiency across 20–50 mV inputs.
