Spontaneous phase transitions in ferrite garnet films

Physics of the Solid State, 2013
Spontaneous phase transitions in ferrite garnet films have been studied. It has been shown that, with variations in the temperature, domain walls undergo phase transitions which cause spontaneous phase transitions in the lattice of cylindrical magnetic domains.

Magnetoelectric properties of epitaxial ferrite garnet films

Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials, 2018
Abstract Magnetoelectric properties of ferrite garnets are of great interest due to possibility of electric control of micromagnetic structures at room temperatures promising for applications in advanced technologies. However, the governing mechanisms underlying magnetoelectric coupling and origin of ferroelectricity in these materials remain under ...

Spontaneous Magnetization of Some Garnet Ferrites and the Aluminum Substituted Garnet Ferrites

Journal of Applied Physics, 1958
Magnetic properties of 5Fe2O3·3M2O3 where M represents Gd-Tb-Dy-Ho-Er-Tm-Yb-Lu-Y-Sm-Eu are reported. The results are interpreted using Néel's molecular field model. A study of the Al substituted gadolinium garnets shows a preference for Al ions to occupy d sites.

Reconfigurable atom chip on a transparent ferrite-garnet film

The European Physical Journal D, 2005
We introduce a new choice of material for the creation of microscopic magnetic potentials for the trapping and guiding of ultracold neutral atoms. The potentials are created above a ferrimagnetic, transparent (BiYTmGd)3(FeGa)5O12 film by patterning the magnetic-domain structure in the film with a magneto-optical recording method.

Linewidth reductions in garnet ferrites

IEE Colloquium on Advances in Passive Microwave Components, 1997
The linewidth of a ferrimagnetic material is a measure of the magnetic loss caused by gyromagnetic resonance of the iron electrons. The authors investigate the effect of substitutions in YIG on properties such as saturation magnetisation, linewidth and Curie temperature.

Magnetooptical effects in bismuth-containing ferrite-garnet films

Soviet Physics Journal, 1989
We present results of magnetooptical investigations of bismuth-containing ferrite-garnet films with the easy axis of magnetization parallel to the specimen surface. Measurements were conducted for incident light with energies in the range 1.5–3.2 eV for transverse [equatorial Kerr effect (EKE)] and for longitudinal [meridional intensity effect (MIE ...

Epitaxial Bi-content ferrite-garnet film memory (abstract)

Journal of Applied Physics, 1994
Memory conception in epitaxial ferrite-garnet films on a compensation wall has been developed in recent work.1 Further original solutions for memory element formation by heat treatment under Si layers have been found but this method has not been used in practice due to the difficulty of reproducing results.

The infra-red refractive index of garnet ferrites

British Journal of Applied Physics, 1965
The refractive index has been measured by the method of minimum deviation on single crystals of Y3Fe5O12 and Gd1.5Y1.5Fe5O12. The index was found to be 2.168 ± 0.003 at 3.0 μm with a variation of the order of 5% between 1 and 6 μm. It is concluded that the Faraday rotation should vary in sympathy with the index in this region.

Conduction mechanism in Y3−2xCa2xFe5−xVxO12 garnet ferrites

Solid State Sciences, 2004
A series of polycrystalline garnet ferrites with composition Y 3−2x Ca2x Fe5−x Vx O12 (x = 0.0, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8 and 1.0), were prepared by the standard ceramic technique to study the effect of Ca 2+ and V 5+ ions substitution on their DC electrical conductivity, thermoelectric power, charge carrier concentration and charge carrier mobility at ...
