All-optical reversible switching of local magnetization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The authors demonstrate all-optical reversible switching of the magnetization direction in a uniformly magnetized ferrite-garnet film. The magnetization is switched by locally heating the film with a pulsed laser beam.

Faraday rotation spectra of bismuth-substituted ferrite garnet films with in-plane magnetization

open access: yes, 2002
Single crystalline films of bismuth-substituted ferrite garnets have been synthesized by the liquid phase epitaxy method where GGG substrates are dipped into the flux.

GARNETS AND FERRITES FOR MAGNETO-OPTICAL RECORDING

open access: yesJournal of the Magnetics Society of Japan, 1991
The present contribution reviews the current status of ferrimagnetic oxides for magneto-optical recording where special attention is paid to iron garnet films deposited by pyrolysis and sputtering. The magnetic and magneto-optical properties are discussed.

Critical dynamics of ferromagnets [PDF]

open access: yes, 1988
The crossover in the dynamics from isotropic to dipolar critical behaviour has been a matter of debate over many years. We review a mode coupling theory for dipolar ferromagnets which gives a unified explanation of the seemingly contradictory ...

Magnetic Textiles: A Review of Materials, Fabrication, Properties, and Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Magnetic textiles (M‐textiles) are emerging as a programmable materials platform that merges magnetic matter with hierarchical textile structures. This article consolidates magnetic material classes, textile architectures, and fabrication and magnetization strategies, revealing structure–property–function relationships that govern magneto‐mechanical ...

Waveguide magnetoplasmonic structure based on ferrite garnet film [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2018
The magnetoplasmonic structure, which is a planar multimode magnetooptical waveguide, 10 μm thick with plasmon resonance SiO2 / Cu coating on the surface is experimentally realized. With the total length of the magnetooptical waveguide 4.6 mm and the length of the SiO2 / Cu coating equal to 3.9 mm, the insertion loss of the structure for TM- and TE ...

A tunable microwave absorption metamaterial inspired by moths evading bat detection

open access: yesInfoMat, Volume 8, Issue 3, March 2026.
Electromagnetic radiation in the current environment has become complex and uncontrollable due to the advancement of wireless technology. Inspired by the moth surface cilia to bend and evade bat sonar detection, our work introduces a metamaterial incorporating broadband and tunable microwave absorption properties combined with deep learning algorithms.

Interplay Between Structure and Interfacial Interactions in Fe‐Gd Synthetic Ferrimagnets

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, Volume 12, Issue 4, 18 February 2026.
Synthetic ferrimagnets with nearly identical Gd–Fe compositions but different architectures and crystallinity were investigated by element‐resolved microscopy, structural analysis and atomistic spin simulations. The results show that Curie temperature and domain evolution are governed primarily by structural order and interface quality, demonstrating ...

Laser modification of ferrite-garnet films

open access: yesPhysics and Chemistry of Solid State
High-power laser irradiation influence on the magnetic and structural parameters of ferrite-garnet films was investigated. It was shown that regardless of the laser irradiation method a decrease in the maximum deformation value and its gradient from the surface side occurs (caused by the movement of defects to the film surface).

Magnetoelectric control of domain walls in a ferrite garnet film [PDF]

open access: yesJETP Letters, 2007
The effect of magnetic domain boundaries displacement induced by electric field is observed in epitaxial ferrite garnet films (on substrates with the (210) crystallographic orientation). The effect is odd with respect to the electric field (the direction of wall displacement changes with the polarity of the voltage) and even with respect to the ...
