Structure of ferrofluid dynamics

Physical Review E, 2001
The complete magnetodissipative structure of ferrofluid dynamics is derived from general principles, without reference to the angular momentum of the ferromagnetic grains. The results are independent of most microscopic details, and easily interpret two previous experiments.

A Shapeshifting Ferrofluidic Robot

Soft Robotics, 2021
To create a miniature shapeshifting robot capable of controlled movement, subdivision, regeneration, passage through small channels, engulfment of particles, object manipulation, and flow manipulation, a droplet of magnetically responsive ferrofluid is used.

Ferrofluids of Thermotropic Liquid Crystals by DNA-Lipid Hybrids.

open access: yesJournal of Physical Chemistry B, 2017
Here is the first report the creation of ferrofluids of thermotropic liquid crystals in the absence of any solvent or nanoparticle. These ferrofluids were prepared by the electrostatic coupling of single-strand (ss) DNA with paramagnetic lipids.

Study on the yielding behaviors of ferrofluids: a very shear thinning phenomenon.

Soft Matter, 2020
The yielding behaviors of the ferrofluids are vital for many applications. However, previous studies have mainly focused on the magnetoviscous effect under relatively high shear rates and rarely involved the yielding process of ferrofluids under very low

Study of the thixotropic behaviors of ferrofluids.

open access: yesSoft Matter, 2018
Ferrofluids exhibit significant thixotropic behaviors under a magnetic field, which are induced by the presence and evolution of different microstructures.

Ultrasound Attenuation in Ferrofluids

Physical Review Letters, 2008
The absorption of acoustic energy by internal degrees of freedom of short chains is proposed as a new viable mechanism of ultrasound attenuation in ferrofluids. It is demonstrated that even though the volume fraction of the chains may be quite small, such an effect may reach the order of magnitude of viscous damping.

Anomalous diffusion in ferrofluids

Physical Review E, 2009
By dynamic light scattering we have studied suspensions of ferrimagnetic maghemite (gamma-Fe2O3) nanoparticles in n -decane with attractive interparticle interaction. The measurements in the suspensions of different concentrations ranging from 0.21 to 25.8 wt % have been compared in zero external field and in the magnetic field of 270 mT.

Experimental investigation on convective heat transfer of ferrofluids inside a pipe under various magnet orientations

International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, 2019
Some experimental tests were conducted to reveal the enhancement of the ferrofluid heat transfer under a permanent magnetic field. This research aims to investigate the effect of various external magnetic fields on convective heat transfer ...
