Ferrofluid Leidenfrost droplets [PDF]

open access: yesSoft Matter, 2019
We experimentally investigate the behavior of ferrofluid Leidenfrost droplets subject to a magnetic field gradient. As a droplet evaporates, it experiences a bouncing instability and finally takes off when its radius reaches a critical value.

Magnetoviscous Property and Hyperthermia Effect of Amorphous Nanoparticle Aqueous Ferrofluids

open access: yesNanoscale Research Letters, 2018
Magnetic Fe-B, Fe-Ni-B, and Co-B nanoparticles were successfully synthesized and introduced to water to prepare aqueous ferrofluids. The Fe-B, Fe-Ni-B, and Co-B particles are homogeneous amorphous nanoparticles with an average particle size 15 nm.

Investigation into loss in ferrofluid magnetization

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2014
Ferrofluids containing γ-Fe2O3/Ni2O3 nanoparticles (not chemically treated) were synthesized using water and mixed water–glycerol as carrier liquid and the ferrofluid viscosity was modified by varying the glycerol content in the carrier liquid.

Quasi-Stable, Non-Magnetic, Toroidal Fluid Droplets in a Ferrofluid with Annular Magnetic Field

open access: yesMagnetism, 2022
A relatively stable, non-magnetic, torus-shaped fluid droplet within a linearly magnetizable surrounding ferrofluid medium, and subject to the annular magnetic field induced by an electric current in a wire passing perpendicularly through its centre, has

ASSESSMENTS FOR THE COUPLING OF SUPERPARAMAGNETIC PARTICLES [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings on Engineering Sciences, 2019
The physical analytical conditions for coupling of superparamagnetic particles have been regarded in the present paper. The cases of two interacting superparamagnetic particles and superparamagnetic particle with another one being in single domain state ...

Transfer Printing and Reconfiguration of Soft Electronics Using Digital Microfluidics and Laser Machining

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This paper presents a digital microfluidics‐based technique for transferring and reconfiguring soft nanomembranes. Laser‐machined nanothin membranes are picked up, transported, and aligned via tailored surface tension and the actuation of water droplets, enabling the development of flexible electronics, the integration of functional materials on 3D ...

Synthesis and characterisation of ferrofluid synthesized from iron and manganese [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Ferrofluids were first used by NASA in the 1960s in order to control the motion of fluids within space, as a ferrofluid is a fluid that has unique magnetic properties.

Characterization of Ferrofluid-based Stimuli-responsive Elastomers

open access: yesFrontiers in Mechanical Engineering, 2016
Stimuli-responsive materials undergo physicochemical, and/or structural changes when a specific actuation is applied. They are heterogeneous composites, consisting of a non-responsive matrix where functionality is provided by the filler.
