Magnetization and shape memory effect of ferromagnetic shape memory alloy wire

IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 1999
Magnetization and shape memory effect (SME) of Fe-Mn-Cr-Si, magnetic shape memory alloy(SMA) have been investigated. The specimen used is a commercial product wire of diameter 1.2 mm. The properties largely depend on heat treatment conditions, so it is treated thermally under three different conditions. As a result, pre-heating before heat treatment is

Shape memory effect of dual-phase NiMnGaTb ferromagnetic shape memory alloys

Journal of Iron and Steel Research International, 2018
The evolution of microstructure, reverse martensitic transformation and the correlated influence on shape memory effect was investigated in as-cast and directionally solidified dual-phase NiMnGaTb alloys. The directionally solidified alloys exhibit single-crystal microstructure, preferred dendrite microstructure, and mussy dendrite microstructure in ...

Properties of Co-alloyed Ni-Fe-Ga Ferromagnetic Shape Memory Alloys

Journal of Materials Engineering and Performance, 2009
It is experimentally found that in the Ni54Fe20-xCoxGa26 ferromagnetic shape memory alloys, Co variation from 0 to 9 at.% leads to: (i) almost linear change of martensitic transformation temperatures from 270 °C to 120 °C; (ii) a non-monotonous change of the Curie temperature, and (iii) a linear decrease of saturation magnetization from 60 to 43 Am2/kg.

Martensitic transformation and shape memory effect in Ni54.75Mn13.25Fe7Ga25 ferromagnetic shape memory alloy

Materials Science and Engineering: A, 2008
Abstract The martensitic transformation and shape memory effect of Ni 54.75 Mn 13.25 Fe 7 Ga 25 (at.%) alloy are studied in the present paper. It is shown that tetragonal martensite with parallel bands substructure transforms to parent phase heated by electron beam.

Shape Memory Behavior of Ni-Mn-Ga Ferromagnetic Shape Memory Alloy

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2010
We have systematically studied the effect of Mn substitution in Ni, Ga and both (Ni, Ga) sites on structural, magnetic and transformation behavior of Ni‐Mn‐Ga Ferromagneti Shape Memory Alloy (FSMA). We find that the substitution of Mn on Ni site decreases the transformation temperatures and the substitution of Mn on Ga site increases the transformation

Shape memory and magnetic properties of Co–Al ferromagnetic shape memory alloys

Materials Science and Engineering: A, 2006
Abstract Martensitic transformation from the face-centered cubic to the hexagonal close-packed structure, shape memory (SM) effect and magnetic properties in the Co–14 at.% Al alloy were investigated and the microstructures of the martensite were examined using transmission electron microscopy.

Martensitic transformation in Co2NiGa ferromagnetic shape memory alloys

Scripta Materialia, 2002
Abstract This investigation of the martensitic transformation in ferromagnetic Co2NiGa shape memory alloys shows that, like in the Ni2MnGa system, the martensite start temperature is proportional to the valence electron concentration. Al is increasing the transition temperatures when it substitutes Ga and is decreasing them when it substitutes Ni.

High-frequency performance of ferromagnetic shape memory alloys

Annals of Solid and Structural Mechanics, 2016
We conduct systematic dynamic experiments on the martensite reorientation in different samples of the single crystal Ni–Mn–Ga Ferromagnetic Shape Memory Alloy (FSMA) driven by a high-frequency magnetic field and a compressive stress. It is found that the output reversible strain strongly depends on the loading frequency, with the maximum output strain ...

Characterization and properties of ferromagnetic shape memory alloys

Materials Characterization, 2011
Abstract Ni–Mn–Ga shape memory alloys are employed for applications in actuators and sensing devices. These alloys exhibit ferromagnetic shape memory effect with large reproducible strains in moderate magnetic fields. This work presents a study of the effect of composition and annealing treatment on the microstructure and magnetic properties in Mn ...
