High-frequency performance of ferromagnetic shape memory alloys
Annals of Solid and Structural Mechanics, 2016We conduct systematic dynamic experiments on the martensite reorientation in different samples of the single crystal Ni–Mn–Ga Ferromagnetic Shape Memory Alloy (FSMA) driven by a high-frequency magnetic field and a compressive stress. It is found that the output reversible strain strongly depends on the loading frequency, with the maximum output strain ...

Characterization and properties of ferromagnetic shape memory alloys
Materials Characterization, 2011Abstract Ni–Mn–Ga shape memory alloys are employed for applications in actuators and sensing devices. These alloys exhibit ferromagnetic shape memory effect with large reproducible strains in moderate magnetic fields. This work presents a study of the effect of composition and annealing treatment on the microstructure and magnetic properties in Mn ...

Phase equilibrium of ferromagnetic shape memory alloy Co39Ni33Al28
Scripta Materialia, 2006Co39Ni33Al28 ribbon with a b phase structure, which exhibited a martensitic transformation to L10 phase, was found to be unstable and decomposed into a b + c phase mixture upon heating to above 973 K. The double-phase structure was found to exhibit no martensitic transformation, despite the presence of the b phase. This is ascribed to the change of the

Magnetomechanical testing machine for ferromagnetic shape-memory alloys
Review of Scientific Instruments, 2003Recently, a new class of active materials, known as ferromagnetic shape-memory alloys, has shown promise as actuator and sensor materials. These alloys, such as Ni2MnGa and Fe3Pd, are ferromagnetic and undergo a reversible diffusionless structural phase transformation giving rise to shape-memory behavior.
