A Rapid Method of Ferromanganese Nodule Mounting
Journal Geological Society of India, 1990Abstract A rapid method of sample preparation for ferromanganese nodules and crusts mounting is presented here, by using laminated polyester resin, cobalt napthanate and methyl ethyl ketone peroxide. With this technique vacuum impregnation is not required.

Ferromanganese Nodules and Encrustations
1986The ferromanganese deposits occurring in the deep sea are authigenic mineral deposits of recent origin. They form due to diverse chemical reactions on the sea floor and may help to provide information on physical, chemical, and biological processes taking place in the ocean as a whole.

Processing of Ferromanganese Nodules of the Pacific Ocean
Metallurgist, 2017Manganese-containing ores in Russia and prospects for expanding the resources by including ferromanganese nodules (FMN) are analyzed. Processes for manganese-containing materials are reviewed. The combined pyro-hydrometallurgical processing of deep-water ferromanganese nodules from the Clarion–Clipperton Zone in the Pacific Ocean is described.

Earth and Planetary Science Letters, 1986Abstract 143 Nd/ 144 Nd ratios have been measured in Fe-Mn encrustations and nodules taken from a wide area of the Pacific and over a large depth range. Over much of the Pacific,e Nd (0) values fall between −2.5 and −5.0, similar to values for Nd presently dissolved at mid-depth in the Pacific.

Infrared spectra of manganese nodules and ferromanganese sediments
Chemical Geology, 1973Abstract Differential infrared studies indicate that interlayer hydroxyl ions are present in some manganese nodules where δMnO2 or 10A manganite form the predominant mineralogical phase. In fossil ferromanganese sediments δMnO2 appears to be essentially dehydrated.

Bacteriology of ferromanganese nodules from the Indian Ocean
Geomicrobiology Journal, 1987Abstract Bacteriological investigations of the ferromanganese nodules collected from the Indian Ocean indicate that the microbial populations associated with the nodules are, in general, comparable to those of the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. Both Mn(II)‐oxidizing and MnO2‐reducing psychrotrophic bacteria were present in the nodules.
